AMC
i think that might mean cliff russell is going bye bye That was true as soon as we drafted him. Signing him was just a matter of time....
ShulaSteakhouse
Probably - but I'm sure Russell will get his chance to beat him out in camp. I don't think Perry's a given to make the roster yet, but indications are he's simply a better all-around player. They plucked TJ in the same way late in the draft and if he turns out to be anything like him it was an excellent pick. But yeah I agree Russell is probably gone in the first few rounds of cuts or sooner, who knows, if Perry shows any level of competence he'll probably get the nod. JaxonFord87
From bengals.com:While the Bengals and agents spent Monday digesting the first first-round deals of the NFL Draft, agent Jeff Sperbeck said Monday night that sixth-rounder Tab Perry has agreed on a three-year deal with the Bengals. HoosierCat
Perry contract details & more from Ludwig...Bengals have work to do before training camp beginsUnsigned draft picks, clearing injured players at top of listBy Chick LudwigDayton Daily NewsCINCINNATI | — Confidence and optimism are as much a part of today's agenda as the gourmet food that will be served at the Bengals pretraining camp media luncheon at Paul Brown Stadium. But there's plenty of business to attend to before the Bengals arrive at Georgetown (Ky.) College on Thursday. They still need to sign four rookies and get some injured players healthy. The club took a step forward Monday night, reaching agreement with its sixth-round draft pick, wide receiver Tab Perry, on a three-year deal worth $997,000 that includes base salaries of $230,000 (2005), $310,000 (2006) and $385,000 (2007) with a signing bonus of $72,000.But the top four draft picks — outside linebacker David Pollack, middle linebacker Odell Thurman, wide receiver Chris Henry and center Eric Ghiaciuc — remained unsigned.Meanwhile, Pro Bowl right offensive tackle Willie Anderson headlined a contingent of players, on the mend from injuries, who participated in a series of drills earlier Monday in front of trainer Paul Sparling, head coach Marvin Lewis and his assistants. The group consisted of players who aren't medically cleared for camp — Anderson (knee), wide receiver Peter Warrick (knee), tailback Chris Perry (hernia), defensive tackle Matthias Askew (ankle), and linebackers Nate Webster (knee), Landon Johnson (shoulder) and Caleb Miller (ankle)."The workout we did was strenuous," Anderson said. "They wanted to see you work out before they clear you. "The addition of free agent defensive tackle Bryan Robinson, the re-signing of tailback Rudi Johnson and wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and the maturation of quarterback Carson Palmer were among the offseason positives. But the glaring negative is the list of injured players entering camp as question marks. Those who can't pass the physical exam on Thursday are placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Players on the PUP list can attend meetings and watch practice from the sidelines, but aren't allowed to practice. Once they pass the physical, they're able to practice.Anderson, who underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee in January, said he expects to pass the physical but won't be 100 percent for at least another month."I'm running full speed and doing my drills full speed," he said. "It's just a matter of me recovering after my workouts. As far as my progress, I'm right where I should be. I don't want to push it too fast in training camp. At the same time, I don't want to miss too much time where I'm rusty."Basically, it's going to be up to me when I say I can go out there and do something. I'll be doing a lot of the drills in camp and doing stuff on the side, before and after practice, with (offensive line coach) Paul Alexander. Paul was worried about whether I'd lost any foot speed. That's the main thing everybody wanted to know. But my foot speed was great. They were pleased."Sounds like good news on the injury front. Hopefully that PUP list doesn't have too many names on it Thursday.
BengalPappaw
YEAH -- BUT, Tab Perry does NOT even show up on the depth chart on Bengals.com.I was optimistic about Perry making the team -- but, I'm concerned after seeing that depth chart. The Bengals don't even list him as a potential backup at Kick returner.

BengalPappaw
I hope you folks are right! What botherred me was that I noticed that they had listed Chris Henry, Eric Ghiacuic, Adam Kleft and even list PUP candidate Ben Wilkerson -- -- but not Tab PerryI like Tab Perry as a BIG third down receiver who can gain yards after the catch.I think he will put on a good show once the real show starts -- I'll be interested in seeing what happens in the next version of the depth chart or the Schmeft chart

I think he is there because they have not seen a ton of him yet. If I remember right, he wasn't able to join the team until mid-June...
