pollack's contract

does anybody know any thing about pollacks contract situation

camp starts friday i starting to get paranoid... probably from the lack of sleep :unsure::wacko:

John Clayton said over the weekend the hang up across the league (no one has signed a #1 yet although the Pats are reportedly close) was the 49ers and their dithering with Alex Smith's contract. The top seven or eight picks are waiting until that contract gets done and can be studied, and with all of them waiting, it has been hella slow for every first round pick.

Which blows. Hopefully it will move swiftly at some point this week, but I am guessing Pollack misses a little bit of time.

I'm getting nervous about training camp because I'll be away at my football camp. Any injuries, cuts or other things like that, I'm not gonna know about.

I don't see either one of them holding out if they get a fair deal. And they will be offered a fair deal, this isn't the "same ol' Bengals". It is odd that there isn't much activity today, I was thinking that with 5-days to go things would be heating up. The lack of a CBA is a problem. Teams can't pro-rate the signing bonus over many years like they used to. Not much happening throughout the league, but once the signing starts I think there will be a flurry of signings throughout the league. I'll bet you Wed/Thurs will be popping!

I can see Thurman and his agent saying "you've already made me a starter and I have 1st round talent, pay me like it." A possibility or some variation of that is possible any ways.

Since Hardy was cut I'm sure there's urgency to get Pollack in camp and that may cost the Bengals leverage as well. I hate relying on rookies to fill needs. Again the Bengals lose leverage.

Henry may ask for more than he's worth too - risk you take when you draft guys who slip farther than they maybe should've.

It doesn't mean prolonged hold-outs but if all 3 of these guys are in camp by the end of next week I'd be pretty impressed.

I'm not that worried about the lack of signings, since it's clearly a league-wide situation. But a line in the Bengals.com article makes an excellent point (though Hobson doesn't seem to realize he's made it) about how its effect on the Bengals is unique...we could end up going into training camp without 2 of our 3 starting LB's. And since they're rookies, there's even a greater hurdle to overcome to get these guys battle-ready (pardon the Kellen-ism). It's still early, but this is the first time I've questioned the wisdom of making rookies Game 1 starters. I hope Caleb and Landon are ready to start again.
