Freqman
Hello All! I'm a new member and lifelong Bengals fan misplaced to Michigan.I usually try to get to PBS once a year, but this year I'll be hitting the Bears Game and Lions Game.I've already tailgated at Ford Field and know the drill pretty well.Anyone have suggestions on Chicago? Thanks! jjakq27
If you are able, visit Kitty O'Sheas. It is a small bar in the Chicago Hilton on South Michigan Avenue. Soldier Field is within eyesite from the hotel. It is an Irish Pub and they have authentic Irish music after 9pm. Even if you are not Irish it's a good time. I think it has changed but up until a few years back , the entire staff was from Ireland.I also recommend either Ed Debevic's Restaurant and/or Harry Caray's Restaurant. ED's is like a 50s style diner where they actually serve meat loaf and mashed potatos (among other things) and HCs is a great steak and Italian place. They are located on the northern part of the central downtown area. Also the shopping on Michigan Avenue (Magnificent Mile) is pretty cool too. The Nike Shop is one of my favorites. As far as the game, I think there are some lots on the north side of Soldier Field, near the Museum where you can probably tailgate. The_Next_Big_Thing
Chicago tail-gating is classic. You'll find lots along the lakeshore to tailgate at.
HoosierCat
Dick's Last Resort is always worth a visit. Only place I've ever had a waitress grab my head & stuff it into her bosom! Barmaid sings a mean Janis cover, too.
ShulaSteakhouse
Thanks guys keep 'em coming if you can. Anything other than the Hilton in walking distance?
jjakq27
Thanks guys keep 'em coming if you can. Anything other than the Hilton in walking distance? There used to be a hotel adjacent to the McCormick Center which is right by Soldier Field but I don't know if there is a new one when they rebuild McCormick.Unfortunately the Hilton is pricey. There was another hotel near the Hilton called the Essex House but I've never stayed there.I am sure there is a Chicago tourist website that might show the hotels near Soldier Field. Also take the Skyway (I-90) from northern Indiana into downtown Chicago. It is a tollroad but it short cuts alot of construction and it merges with I-94, just a few exits from the way to Solder Field (Lakeshore Drive). ShulaSteakhouse
Just days away!Heading to the 31st/McCormick lot with my colors on, wish me luck!!!Is that a popular lot for visiting fans or something? We'll be up there too, finally got a room, every hotel is booked downtown that day solid near the stadium. Any good places downtown to go the night before and/or before the game? Freqman
Heading to the 31st/McCormick lot with my colors on, wish me luck!!!Is that a popular lot for visiting fans or something? It's a drive up lot, so you don't need season passes. It's also a good tailgate lot, which is good since the bars don't serve until 11am.I'll be there by 7:30am CST. Taking my Tracer since gas prices are so high. Never been tailgating with a compact before. Should be interesting...
