HoosierCat
Hobson is hedging, but I think the tea leaves are clear. Check out bengals.com. And Kitna sounds ready to be No. 2-for-life. An excerpt:Even though he is the unquestioned Most Valuable Player of the Bengals’ turnaround season, Kitna had no problems in the meeting with his head coach less than 24 hours after the 22-14 loss to Cleveland ended the season at 8-8. In fact, he hinted he would be willing to re-structure his contract if it helps the team and helps keep Kitna in a community where he has decided to live full-time. redsfan2
We've had discussions similar to this in the past. I'm glad to see this being addressed already. I think Kitna is absolutely great, and we need to keep him if he wants to stay. He knows the game, he has a lot of practical experience, and he has the respect and support of the team. I think he'll make a great mentor for Palmer. This will be the exact opposite of a Flutie situation where he was doing everyting he could to undermine first Johnson in Buffalo, and then Brees in S.D.Keeping Kitna on the team to help Palmer with the transition will make it smoother for everybody. Kitna showing support for Palmer will make it easier for the team to accept as well. Kitna gets to stay in an important role with the team, fans get Palmer, Palmer gets to start, offensive players ... coaches.. coordinator get the prototype qb they've been lusting after. ....... EVERYBODY gets what they want. This is one of those few situations where everyone is willing to do the best thing for the team, and its to everybodys benefit. HoosierCat
What redsfan said. Times about 1,000.May Palmer win Kitna many Super Bowl rings, and may Kit live to a ripe old age surrounded by many, many grandchildren! chrishcovga
You want to see the ultimate in " FANTASY FOOTBALL".. Carson Palmer does for Cincinnati what Troy Aikman and another intelligent coach did for the Dallas Cowboys. Turned us into a Dynasty.I ain't gonna lie to you, when we drafted the guy, i thought,ok loved the way he played in college..Looked pretty damn good in the preseason,I honestly think he's our Qb. for the next 12 years. Kirkendall
I think Kitna is absolutely great, and we need to keep him if he wants to stay. Not only did you hit the nail on the head with all of your post RedsFan2, but he's also a role model in terms of being a human being. I hope that Palmer helps our transition to perennial division champs, but Kitna stays on his own accord to be an ambassador of Cincy. The Brew Man
Right on guys, I think the sooner this is decided the better for Carson. I know its too early to say he will be the starter next year, but behind closed doors that may be the thought. The sooner he becomes "the man" the better. Btrester151
I agree, I dont want "another" quarterback controversy. IE: StL, CLE. That is what killed the browns this season(along with countless injuries). We two good quarterbacks, so its up to marvin to tell us who the great one will be! BengalszoneBilly
May Palmer win Kitna many Super Bowl rings, and may Kit live to a ripe old age surrounded by many, many grandchildren! Yeah right, with a Super Bowl ring, Kitna might have something other than the ball to hold on to for too long! That clown doesn't deserve a ring, and if he's an ambassador for Cincy, lets put him in charge of all the bible studies! Whatever it takes to keep him off the football field. s**t! Kenny Anderson was an ambassador! Kitna couldn't carry his jockstrap!
Kirkendall
Why do you hate Kitna so much? It wasn't he who gave up 266 yards on the ground or 186 yards to a rookie running back that before the last name Suggs meant the guy in Baltimore. It wasn't he who didn't run the ball. It wasn't he who had one receiver with a bum leg. I agree Kitna had a bad game, but for the season he was in the top ten in most statisical catagories. You're mad about Cleveland, aren't you? The Brew Man
Here is the problem with Kit, he had a career year, the best he has and imo, will, ever do. And we are 8-8 and not in the playoffs. So, we need to turn the corner somehow and Carson awaits....
Kirkendall
OK, I'm not saying we keep Kitna as the starter. I'm saying what a better solution would it be to have Kitna as the backup in case Palmer goes down to injury? Why so many Kitna hatas'? I can agree to that Kirk, I just think ole Jonny left a very sour taste in our mouths with the strecht run of the season. I said it in the first quarter of the brownies game and will say it again. He looked scared. But, I think he would be a very valuable backup and we should keep him....
Btrester151
The amount of kitna hate around here is kinda scary. Guess he should have just passed for 2200 yards 11 td's and 22 pics.....then maybe we would have loved him! I am real stuck on the kitna, palmer thing... And we are 8-8 and not in the playoffs. So, we need to turn the corner somehow and Carson awaits.... There is NO DENYING what the 'Brew man said. I don't hate Kitna, I wish him a healthy and happy life. Just as long as it isn't in the starting Q.B. situation. He's always been the consumate backup, and hence, where he will be relagated to next year! Too much money invested in Palmer for anything else to happen. Don't take my whining wrong guys...I'm definitely ALL FOR THE BENGALS!! I just want more for them, and I do not see this defense, or Kitna (short of back up) being part of that! It's all about attitude. Jon's attitude isn't that strong. Maybe for the Lord, but not for the Bengals!

I am real stuck on the kitna, palmer thing...I think you could argue it both ways. But you'll get slammed if you choose Kitna Don't take my whining wrong guys...You're not whining man, it's all about the enjoyment of debate. Afterall, what we say doesn't mean a damn thing in the end, but it does pass the time until we get off work and go home.
The Brew Man
Bottom line as stated above....Kitna has taken us as far as he can as a starter, its time for Carson to step up and be the man, and Jon to be the backup. Any questions?
BengalszoneBilly
Why do you hate Kitna so much? I agree Kitna had a bad game, but for the season he was in the top ten in most statisical catagories. You're mad about Cleveland, aren't you?Saying Kitna had a bad game is like saying Saddam had a bad hiding place! I will admit he played better WHEN THE DEFENSE PLAYED BETTER, in each of those games. But then what decent QB wouldn't? Admit it. He's history. At least as a starter. They aren't going to waste the money they've spent on Carson, while he just sits on the bench! This is the Bengals we're talking about here! Oh, and I don't hate Jon. I just hate the way he:#1: Can't scramble.#2: Can't play at a steady level, he's up and down more often than the tides!#3: Doesn't read the blitz consistantly.#4: Doesn't see other open recievers down field unless they're his primary or secondary recievers. and last, but to me certainly not least...#5: Doesn't know when to get rid of the freakin' ball!!!! Oh...Are you guys working? I still have another six days off!! I love my job! I'll just sit here, surf the net, and enjoy my coffee and bourbon! Kirkendall
#1: Can't scramble. Not all QBs can. Manning is doing pretty good and he's a pure pocket guy; but funny when he does run. RUN FORREST RUN!#2: Can't play at a steady level, he's up and down more often than the tides! He proved more consistant, but overall, true.#3: Doesn't read the blitz consistantly. I think we can partially blame Brat for this one. His predictability put Kitna in a bind a lot. #4: Doesn't see other open recievers down field unless they're his primary or secondary recievers. - Well I'll give Kitna the benefit of the doubt on this one. The O-line performed below par and it forced Kitna to dump the ball quickly. Anyway, after Chad and Warrick who do you have that's dependable. All of the drops and tipped passes for INT certainly can't be blamed on Kitna completely.and last, but to me certainly not least..#5: Doesn't know when to get rid of the freakin' ball!!!!You make great points, and not once did I say that Kitna should start. I just supported the opinion that he should be the backup for Cincy. He already has said that it's Palmer's team, will restructure his contract for this season and beyond and such. Saying Kitna had a bad game is like saying Saddam had a bad hiding place!I don't know; where are the WMDs? Oh...Are you guys working? I still have another six days off!! I love my job! Arizona
I think you guys should definitely go with Kitna. As the Starter. For Life.Seriously though, assuming the Steelers get their heads out of their asses and draft themselves a franchise QB (although I hope they don't), this division is going to be loaded with QB talent. Palmer, Boller, Couch (1st overall pick right?), and this hypothetical Steelers QB.In a few years the AFC North will look like the NFC West, balls zipping through the air everywhere. But Seriously seriously, go with Kitna. I bet if you guys packaged Palmer with Corey you could get a first round pick out of it...yessss....that's a good idea....kitna is the best...you are getting sleepy.....
