walzav29
I remember being hyped by the bombs of Jeff Blake, to Pickens, and Scott. When they got Kijana are offense was supposed to never be stopped. I still have scars from that hype. Are we all convinced that this will not be the same? bengalboomer7
YES, but Hype and potential are two different things. We have potential to be great, let's just wait and see how the chips fall.
bengal4life
Although it's in the back of my head, I don't want to think of that ever happening again. Besides If you look at ML's past 3 drafts, he's been stellar at getting quality players that can make an impact right away.
UK Bengal
Whooo im back first post since remembering my password out of the blue bengal steve rest in peace little off track there.......anywayI don't see that happening as has been reported since about the calmness and stature of palmer no way in hell is he gonna become jeff blake, I mean when did boomer ever call jeff blake the best QB in the afc north
HoosierCat
I'm not worried about a flop...but I do think that Carson, and the Bengals offense as a whole, need to continue to develop and continue to step it up. Other teams know what they're up against now; this isn't the old who's-the-QB-this-time-punch-Dillon-in-the-nose-he'll-quit team. No more looking past us or underestimating us, it's "A game" time every week.
redsfan2
Blake had a strong arm and was good enough to be a quality back up ...... exactly what he was when Coslett brought him in from the Jets. Main thing he had going for him was that the other teams DC's didn't have any film on him. As soon as they did and saw his tendencies after being flushed out of the pocket, the rest was adjustments. Palmer isn't as predictable. Add to that, Palmer can make throws that Blake couldn't. Add to THAT .... better receivers .... running game ..... O line ....... coaching .... No. I don't think we'll have the same situation with Palmer. That's just 10+ years of nerves that you're feeling .... Happens to all of us.While doing the spell check, Coslett popped up and I hit Ignore ...... and was immediately struck by the wisdom and irony combined in that simple gesture ....... Think I'll do it again.
Rimington over Marino
I think we have a much better O line than we did in the 90s. All we had then was Wille. We had some talent but Jones and Steinbach are much better than Sargent and Braham or Blackman back then. Boomer got them to play better in 97 but basically they were run blockers. Boomer made everyone better, didn't he.

BengalszoneBilly
I fear that BAX!!! Of course you fear that!! That's what you do! Where have ya' been dude? Prison? Kidding! (You haven't been locked up have you? ) We had a problem with some hackers here a while back, so you, as well as a lot of other members are going to have to re-do all your personal pics/sigs again.Anyway thanks for dropping by. Don't be a stranger. (Or any stranger than you already are.) You're presence here is like a dark raincloud interrupting a sunny day, and between you and me, some of the folks may be just a tad too sunny in their outlook for the upcoming season. It will all depend on the defense. If the "D" improves, so will the Bengals record, but it will still be proportional to the improvement. The Big Orange
I don't think I have any fear of being lousy, or for things to be terribly wrong...But I do fear that we might join the ranks of a number of consistently good teams that don't win it all. I don't want to just consistantly be a contender or a playoof slot filler...I mean, I wouldn't mind that for this year, and maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I would be sad if Braham and Willie and especially CJ to come and go without tasting the sweetness of the Super Bowl. Can you imagine the interview CJ would give after the Super Bowl? I know Marvin will cry and I will cry with him...I love that guy.
