walzav29
It is worth the risk to keep him. Plus that would give them time to groom Tab and Henry. With as explosive as the Bengals were last year without him, I think they should give themselves the chance to see life with him. That would be a lot of headaches for defensive coordinators. I truly believe that if Warrick would have stayed healthy, he would have put up better numbers than TJ. If they let Housh sit a year they should give Warrick the same chance. This will be his last year though.
schweinhart
If anybody should get this shot, it's P-Dub. He came back from knee surgey after a week to get back in with the playoffs on the line in 2003, which couldn't have helped the condition he has now.Problem I got is that it looks like P-Dub has some chronic, degenerative condition at this point. The reality of the doubts about P-Dub's health will have to be balanced with the potential benefit of his presence on the field. Not an easy call for anybody to make.IMO, I think he'll be gone at some point after June1 but before the final cut.
walshfan
If Warrick is healthy keep him... If he cant cut like he used to he's gone.....
The Big Orange
I say if we can use Warrick to trade for the ultimate defensive weapon like a Chauves (Safety from the Vikings who is unhappy about his contract), then trade him. For us right now if he's healthy he will play more the role of a tight end (as far as his recieving across the middle and downfield blocker), and we already have great (if not the best) blocking tight ends...it's the recieving side that always gets us fans frustrated. ShulaSteakhouse
Sounds like they won't know what he'll be able to do until training camp - if it's just a matter of strength and conditioning his legs after the time-off then of course you keep him since he's signed and worry about his future after this year. He's the 2nd best WR on the roster still, and this offense requires at least 3 very good ones.If they can sew a hamstring to Ken Griffey Jr.'s thigh bone and he can do what he's doing I can't imagine they can't find a way to get Warrick healthy again...granted football's a completely different animal that obviously requires 10x the physical demand that baseball does. jditty47
keep him. for godsake keep him. if he's gone i dont feel safe with housh, henry, and kwash after chad.
The Big Orange
I trust Housch...I love that guy. He took the 2 hardest hits last year...back to back, and jumped right up after both of them. He waited a long time for his opprotunity...made the most of it and is a very quality#2 receiver. I like Warrick too, but to think that we couldn't use one more difference maker on defense is just silly.

Rimington over Marino
keep him. for godsake keep him. if he's gone i dont feel safe with housh, henry, and kwash after chad. Warrick had good numbers on pathetic offenses. He has to get the chance to play this year. Why everybody thinks he is expendable is beyond me. Carson Palmer needs as many weapons as possible. It hurt him early last year when Warrick was hurt and TJ was not the player he was later in the year. Chad is Chad but he needs a complementary talent on the other side. Football is all about matchups and you have to have more talent than the opponents can match up to. Few teams have 3 quality CBs. Rookies are not a better option. Everybody seems to think rookies can jump into the lineup right away and be All Stars. Few ever are Pro Bowl material as rookies. Most that are have incredible supporting casts, ie Ben Roethlisberger. 255 players were drafted plus free agants signed. Only about half of them ever make the opening day roster. Another half of them get buried on the roster or only ever make Special Teams contributions. That leaves about 75-100 making significant contributions. 50% of them seem to fall into the Chris Perry category. That is first day picks on PUP or injured Reserve. It actually works that only about 50 players from every draft that are Pro Bowl quality players or with careers that lasts longer than their original contract. derekshank
Keep Warrick! Think about the mismatches on 4 receiver sets. Chad, Housh, Warrick, and Henry (if he comes along under Chad's wing like many expect). There isn't a defense in the NFL that can cover all 4 of those guys. With that receiving core (and hopefully a healthy Chris Perry to catch out of the backfield) we will never have to run the ball again, although we will, on 1st down, every time (but that is a different discussion). jonf45uk
definately keep him. if chad gets a long term injury we'd look pretty thin without him, and we gotta keep as many dangerous players as poss. if all else fails let him just return punts!!! Dieter
You have to keep Pdub. Outside of him there is no significant experience at this position. It takes 2-3 years to develop a productive WR in the NFL. Tab and Henry are both to raw to produce in the NFL this year as a 3rd WR.

That's what Kelly Washington is for.Oh, and if you think Chris Henry isn't going to beat out Kelly for the #3 slot you are in for a big surprise. If there's any question about Pdub being 100% ready, let him go. We have young depth enough to let him go. It's not about cap room, it's about dependability.
Dadraftnick
They already have too many WR's now to sort through. If he stays he will only be here for one year.It would be much better to devolop the guys they have and trade him or at least cut him and free up the cap space for a safety or pass rusher.I dont know why you want him so bad anyway he's only had one good year .I guess that you have forgotten all the dropped passes and aligator arm stunts he used to pull. chrishcovga
The coaching staff has already paid notice that Peter Warrick has been running fine, he just hasn't been cleared for contact, something that won't happen for another month in the first place, and really 2 months away with the start of training camp. But I can't see Cincy' dropping Warrick this year, based on two major principles.1. Chad gets hurt, T.J. and K-Wash become our starters, and that is a significant drop in talent alone. 2. We didn't improve the tight end spot, which still leaves us with a pretty large hole to fill to run routes out of the slot. Peter is great when it comes to playing the middle of the field.2.2 million is a pretty cheap price to assure that our offense can stay on the field, by consistently converting third downs. :player:
NJ29
Sometimes I feel like I want to get rid of P-Dub, but I have the highlights of the Chiefs game on my desktop, so I'm screwed if I want to keep that opinion. Peter Warrick isn't our best player, but he is a Bengal and I see him as a player who always will be. This is unlikely, but I hope it stays that way.P Dub + :player: =

The_Next_Big_Thing
Like I've said a million times, if Pdub gets cut, it's a good thing because it means the coaching staff feels the young guys can produce better than Peter can.
TippCityRick
I say Pdub only gets cut if he's unable to perform physically. He's too valuable as our number 2 receiver - YES, I SAID NUMBER 2. If Pdub is healthy he will beat out Hoosh for that spot in training camp. All you who want a trade, forgetaboutit. No one is gonna trade for a guy who sat out most of last year.
