The Bengals defense was STOUT!

Recommended Posts

As I was going through a bunch of old VHS tapes of *ahem* "stuff" last night, I found a tape I recorded of the Bengals playoff win over Seattle in '88!

Fulcher was dominating!! Sacking the QB, stuffing running plays! Knocking down passes! The defense actually held them to more 3 & outs than 1st downs! (it seemed!) Ickey just flat ran over people!

I want to see the Bengals defense play that way again!! :player:

I wish that I had seen the Bengals defense when it was a dominant force. the only memory I have of us playing Seattle is when we intercepted Hasselbeck three times and won 27-24 in 2003. Not quite the same thing as what Billy is talking about...obviously.

But I think that the defense will get to that point again in the next couple of years :player: :player: :player:

Well it was never really "dominant" that I can recall over the offense. EVER! Since the 1st game in '69!

In that playoff game (Just before kicking Buffalo to the curb! :) ) the defense did dominate the Seahawks for the most part. Seattle never established a running game thanks to the linebackers and Fulcher. Possibly the best game he ever played!

Wow, and you found a way to throw a win over Buffalo in there, too.

Well done, sir.

Maybe our defense would be dominant if we could put together one complete year of defense without having one aspect that is pretty good and another that completely falls apart. I'd like to see the DL and the secondary both have a good year...if that happened, would the world implode?

If I remember , Wilcots had a pick in that game. It was the only one he had all year I think. :)

Isn't that the game that Nash kept faking a knee injury in order to slow down the no-huddle? I am still miffed that Buffalo is often given credit for the no-huddle, when they stole it from Sam. I would love to see what innovations Wyche could come up with, if he had the current crop of players (including Warrick).

I want us (Bengals) to SHUT OUT somebody -- to H*** with LAYBOW "prevent" defenses.

I want something that will scare other teams

Let this year be the first year of a DOMINANT DEFENSE!!!

OKay -- okay -- maybe I'm a little TOO pumped ;):lol:B):P

BUT, I really would like to see us shut out some team(s) this year.
