Which one of you guys is even more of a pessimist than Joisey? C'mon, speak up now or I'm blaming the new guy.

BengalszoneBilly
The list doesn't go up to 23?4 Preseason games16 regular season games &3 playoff games=23 winsI like this guys optimistic attitude! I'm guessing you could count him among those who feel positive about our draft! Even though I too feel positive over the players the Bengals have inked to come to training camp, I'm not going to predict Cincinnati will get quite as many wins as he does. :player: Sun. Sept. 11th WIN at Cleveland(No better way to start off the regular season!) Sun. Sept. 18th LOSS Minnesota(This will be the Bengals 1st of ONLY 2 losses at home.) Sun. Sept. 25th WIN at Chicago(A tougher game than we anticipate.) Sun. Oct. 2nd WIN Houston(This is where the rest of the league sits up and starts to take notice...)Sun. Oct. 9th LOSS at Jacksonville(...then the Bengals lose a close one here.)Sun. Oct. 16th WIN at Tennessee(Weird. Cincinnati seems to win here only when the Titans don't start their backup QB.) :player: Sun. Oct. 23rd WIN Pittsburgh(The Bengals upside of their split with the Steelers.)Sun. Oct. 30th WIN Green Bay(Goodbye Brett! Thanks for defining the term "Ironman NFL QB." Oh...don't forget to take this "L" wit' 'cha!)Sun. Nov. 6th LOSS at Baltimore(The Bengals downside in their split with the Ravens.) Sun. Nov. 13th The Bengals Bye Week(Bye weeks SUCK! Especially when they follow a loss the previous week.)Sun. Nov. 20th LOSS Indianapolis(Officially making November the Bengals worst month of the 2005 season.) :player: Sun. Nov. 27th WIN Baltimore(This game starts the teams momentum rolling towards the...those, uh...um, you guys know what word I'm looking for don't ya? What they call those games? The ones you watch on TV after the other ones? The NFL whatchamacallit's? Oh yeah! THE PLAYOFFS!! It's been so long since I've used the term, I almost forgot! )Sun. Dec. 4th LOSS at Pittsburgh(This game will be one of the leagues best all year! Both teams are neck and neck for the division crown, the score goes back and forth all game long, Carson leads a late drive to tie it up and send it into overtime, where the Steelers win it on a field goal! It doesn't diminish the teams momentum. In fact it fires them up!) :player: Sun. Dec. 11th WIN Cleveland(The sweep is completed!)Sun. Dec. 18th WIN at Detroit(Find they like the town so much, they start making room reservations for Janurary!) Sat. Dec. 24th WIN Buffalo (Ol' Willis finds his "Express" train derails again from playoff contention in December for the 2nd straight season.) :player: Sun. Jan. 1st WIN at Kansas City(How much happier can a New Year possibly be?? The Bengals win the AFC North with a record of 11-5! On to the Playoffs and BEYOND!) HairOnFire
weren't me!!my heart says 12, but my head says 9. That'll do. After jokingly calling you out I now see that somebody else has voted for 5 wins. Probably would have voted for less if those options were available, right? All I can say in response is that I hope they're just having a little fun with the poll...because I'd hate to be a fan of a team that gave me so little hope. HoosierCat
because I'd hate to be a fan of a team that gave me so little hope. Little hope? Shoot, the Bengals specialize in hope. They're the Saudi Arabia of hope, they pump it out by the supertanker-load. I would estimate that, on an annual basis, the Bengals produce enough hope to cover the planet in a layer about two feet thick. The team's slogan out to be "hope springs eternal." Or even better, just rename PBS "Hope Springs."I got hope coming out of my ears. Now, if I just had a defence...
derekshank
Win at Cleveland - yes we usually lose to them once, but all the odds have to be against it.Win at home against Minnesota - It's going to be hard for any team to beat the Bengals at home - especially that defense, and a Mossless and overrated Dante Culpepper.Win at Chicago - It's Chicago.Win at home against Houston - Carr does not have the tools that Palmer does, and it's in Cincy.Loss at Jacksonville - I think the Jags are way overrated, but I'd feel like a homer to have us going 5-0.Win at Tennessee - They lost all of their playmakers. Easy pickingsLoss at home against Pittsburgh - I think we can beat them, but like the Cleveland thing, I have to go with the odds.Win at home against GB - Favre's TD/INT rate has been horrible, no offensive line to speak of, and a terrible defense. No brainer Bengals win.Loss at Baltimore - Boller sucks, but has playmakers now. We'll win one of them, just not on the road.Loss at home against Indy - Our defense will be much improved, but the Manning train will wear us out. Our only hope is snow in Cincy on Nov 20th. Win at home against Baltimore - Revenge in the Jungle will be sweet.Loss at Pittsburgh - No revenge for us against the Steelers, since it's at their house.Win at Cleveland - again, they suck so bad, you have to go with the oddsWin at Detroit - I don't care how many 1st round receivers they have. They stll aren't as good as ours, and our defense will be better than Detroit's this year.Win at home against Buffalo - Did I mention our improved defense? Against J.P. Losman, Carson Palmer's experience will be the difference.Win at K.C. - They still haven't addressed that defense, and their offense is too old and frail (and receiverless). 11 wins - I think we could pull off 12. Our defense will be better than people think, and Carson Palmer will pick up where he left off - headed to the pro bowl this year.Possibly the easiest schedule in the NFL - if we can go 4-2 in the division we will win the division, with home field advantage in the playoffs (for at least one game). This is a playoff season - next year is the Super Bowl season, when our 2nd year players, and rookies have some more experience to go with their youth. bengalindian
Win at home against Minnesota - It's going to be hard for any team to beat the Bengals at home - especially that defense, and a Mossless and overrated Dante Culpepper. I dunno about Minnesota having a bad defense with the amazing offseason they've had. And I don't think Culpepper will be hurt because they picked up Troy Williamson to replace Moss (which I think he will do just fine). Indycat
Win at Cleveland - Rudi rolls for 150+ yards against a revamped Browns D.Win vs Minnesota - Combination of Rudi running and Palmer passing gets us an early lead. Pollack, Geathers, and Smith run Culpepper ragged in the second half resulting in 5 sacks and 3 interceptions.Win at Chicago - First test of our run defense. Surprisingly close game with Bears ball control offense and Lovey Smiths second year defense keeping it a close game.Win vs Houston - Hometown crowd and outmatched opponent.Win at Jacksonville - Down 13 going into the 4th quarter Palmer rallies the offense and the defense shuts down the Jags to secure a 1 point victory.Win at Tennessee - Second most disappointing loss last year (behind the first Browns game). Payback is a joy.Win vs Pittsburgh - Our run defense has jelled at this point and what have they got without their run game? Nothing!Win vs GB - Favre may be a future hall of famer but he's the second best QB on the field this game.Win at Baltimore - They can't run all over our defense anymore and are beginning to realise Boller is not an NFL QB.Win vs Indy - High scoring game. Manning, down by 6 on the 7 yard line as time expires, throws an inception to Madieu.Win vs Baltimore - Behind early Boller throws 4 int's.Win at Pittsburgh - See first Pitt game.Win vs Cleveland - Browns working their way into first pick of the draft so they can get A J Hawk.Win at Detroit - Perfect weather, fast track, TJ, CJ, and CH all catch long bombs. Win vs Buffalo - J.P. Losman is dazed and confused as our defense shuts down everything he tries.Win at K.C. - All 11 of their staring offense is on the IR, Vermeil is ready for retirement and their defense couldn't stop a high school team.First round byeSecond round - Win vs Jets - Rudi runs for 150+, offense controls the clock for 40 minutes.AFC Championship - Win vs Colts - High scoring game. Palmer, down by 6 on the 7 yard line as time expires, throws a touchdown to Schobel on the first completion to a TE for the whole year. Super Bowl - Win vs Minn - Rematch of early season game. Vikings D has turned into a very solid unit and Williamson has replaced Moss as Culpeppers' favorite receiver. Tough, hard fought game with Bengals pulling out a 31-28 victory.Final Record 19-
LesterLyles
I think the Bengals can win 10 games. The impotant thing for you guys is to go at least 4-2 in the division. You must sweep Cleveland and go no worse than 2-2 versus. No more screwing around versus the Steelers. If you go 4-2 in the division, I don't see why 6-4 isn't possible. BengalNation1281
Win at K.C. - They still haven't addressed that defense, and their offense is too old and frail (and receiverless).I don't want to heap too much praise on the Chiefs, but they got Sammy Knight, Pat Surtain, Carlos Hall, Kendrell Bell, and 1st-rounder Derrick Johnson to shore up their defense. And they didn't have any receivers in 2003 or 2004, and their offense was still in the top 5 in the NFL, and they drafted a pretty good WR on the second day of the draft (Craphonso Thorpe, FSU) to go with their young guys that should start to see more significant action this year (Samie Parker, Marc Boerigter, Richard Smith, Chris Horn).Don't overlook the Chiefs...I see this year being a pretty big one for them, at least in the form of another AFC West title.I think we might see them again in the first round of the playoffs.
