bengalsfan33 Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 No michael Munoz. Nah, Marvin said this morning that he wasn't going to be drafted or signed by the Bengals because he's not needed due to us drafting Andrews last year. Quote
IfItsBrownFlushItDown Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Munoz's health is too big of a ?. A starter with previous health problems is acceptable, but a backup can't be injury prone. Quote
IfItsBrownFlushItDown Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 According to www.kffl.com, the Bengals have signed WR Sale Key from Idaho State and OT Steve Vieira from UCLAKFFL.comAnd from the official site of the Toledo Rockets:Three Rockets Sign Free Agent Contracts With NFL Teams Lance Moore signs with Cleveland, Patrick Body inks with Cincinnati and Kenny Higgins becomes a Charger April 24, 2005Toledo, OH - Three Rockets signed free agent contracts with NFL teams within hours after the conclusion of the draft on Sunday. Wide receiver Lance Moore (Westerville, OH) signed with the Cleveland Browns, free safety Patrick Body (Pittsburgh, PA) signed with the Cincinnati Bengals and wide receiver Kenny Higgins (Long Beach, CA) signed with the San Diego Chargers. The three signees join offensive lineman Nick Kaczur, who was drafted in the third round by New England, as Toledo's latest entrants into the professional football ranks. Moore, 5-11, 172 pounds, set UT records for career receptions, receiving yards and receiving TDs during his four-year career. He was a two-time, first-team All-MAC selection and earned first-team Academic All-America honors as a senior. Body, 6-2, 201 pounds, was Toledo's starting free safety for three seasons and earned first-team All-MAC honors as a senior. Higgins, 6-1, 184 pounds, was a junior college transfer who became UT's third-leading receiver as a senior this past season. Quote
IfItsBrownFlushItDown Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Just saw where this has already been posted. That thread title didn't really lead me to expect that the post was about rookie FAs Quote

skyline Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 A little more info on Patrick Body. Make sure you're sitting down. Worked out for 3 NFL teams, including the Bengals, and was clocked in the 40 at 4.31. (Has previously been clocked as low as 4.26.) Vertical leap of 42.9" Lifted 14 reps @225 38 starts. 1st team ALL MAC as a senior. Played sparingly as a freshman and sophmore at WLB. Switched to FS full time mid point of sophmore season to take better advantage of coverage skills. Possible reason he wasn't drafted? He broke a bone in his right arm during a bowl game on Dec.27th. As a result he wasn't invited to the combine. Whoa... Quote

ArmyBengal Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 This just confirms there are many NFL guys, that know far more about this draft crap than me... However, many of those undrafted guys would come in and challenge for a spot... Butler, Shazor, Wilerson... Funny how many thought they would be gone earlier (Including myself) only to go undrafted...WHODEY !!! Quote
Fab Five Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 http://www.nfl.com/draft/analysis/individual_workouts#toledoNot sure where you got your numbers from on Body but here are numbers from Toledo's Pro-Day which aren't anywhere near the numbers originally quoted. Quote

TJJackson Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Tell me they brought in S James Butler, C Ben Wilkerson, LB James Kinney, and TE Adam Bergen, and I'll be happy. Also signed were OT Steve Viera of UCLA and yet another big WR Sale Key of Idaho State.Yes yes YES more wideouts! Let's get about 30 of them into camp....after all, Carson can't have too many weapons Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 I'd love to see them get Adam Bergen (TE) and Will Matthews (FB) and Ernest Shazor (SS) in on free agent contracts.None of them have to make the team roster, but Bergen is a good TE prospect, Shazor will push Herring to play better, and Matthews can be a signal to Jeremi Johnson that he better not come in fat and out of shape this year. We just drafted linebacker in round 1 and 2. Why sign the scrubs noone wanted?I'm not sure about Davis either. Quote

HoosierCat Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index.ssf?/...40891739980.xmlBut the news was not as good for LSU center Ben Wilkerson, once considered a first-day NFL talent, who went undrafted and signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. Wilkerson went undrafted largely because of a season-ending knee injury he suffered against Vanderbilt on Oct. 30. Wilkerson, 6-3, 292, was a co-recipient of the 2004 Rimington Trophy, which goes to the nation's top center. He had started 41 consecutive games before tearing the patella tendon in his left knee. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said he couldn't speak for the other teams, but, "There was a real health concern for us." Wilkerson said most teams that called Sunday night told him the injury was their only concern. And the Bengals told him he was still a big part of their plans. "It was pretty disappointing. But I had all my friends and family with me," Wilkerson said from his home in Hemphill, Texas. "It's still going to work out. I'm still going to sign with a team and I'm going to move on and look ahead."OK, now the Gooey signing makes sense...Wilkerson will need a backup... Quote
alleycat Posted April 25, 2005 Author Report Posted April 25, 2005 I think this is brilliant. Believe me, BOTH of these guys will be starting in a couple of years - one at center, the other guard. A real steal for us IMO. I also like the signing of the kid from Toledo. He's #3 on the GBN report for safeties, though I'd still like to see us bring in Butler and Shazor for a little comp. Quote
princeton Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Wilkerson's either supremely confident that he can beat out Geico, or a bit dense. Quote
JPW Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Wilkerson's either supremely confident that he can beat out Geico, or a bit dense. This is a great pick up ...If Wilkerson had been healthy he would have been the Top Center in the Draft. Quote
