AGrizzlyBaer
of course i agree and am not one of the biggest fans in the world of a 6th round wr.... i do have to say in marvin we trust, and Mel the Hair Kiper said the bengals were having one of the best drafts, he likes our day one and our day 2 line men so take a deep breath... and chill out
TJJackson
Thanks, but no.We can get good free agents to come here for the most part, so we depend greatly on the draft. When they screw it up, it has an enormous impact on the success of the team. That said - picks 1-4 were great. I'm thankful that their screwups are at least confined to the later rounds. jditty47
dude we needed depth on the line as much as we needed depth at linebacker. 4th and 5th round picks were good picks. 6th pick is questionable to me but who knows...
TJJackson
How about S? Did we need an OL more than a S?How about DE? Did we need an OL more than we needed a DE?

jditty47
yes and yes. bro, we have 40 yr old braham, and moore who is injury prone. we needed another center badly, regardless if we need to train him up. oh and are you comfortable with kooistra on the field? i am sure as hell not. i hope the 5th round guy forces him and andrews to improve or get cut...cuz right now they both are taking too long to develop for a roster spot. our depth at de and dt are fine now with robinson, askew, clemons, powell, smith, thornton, geathers, moore. our depth at safety is fine too now that we have linebackers in front of them. williams, ratliff, herring, kaesvaharn are fine. skyline
Nice try Grizzly. I agree with you, but you might as well give up.People freak out over the draft every year. They think they're the ones that spent countless hours scouting and interviewing these guys. They believe that they know the inner workings of the team. They know exactly who might be released from the team, who needs competition in order to improve, who's injuries are the most serious, and which players from the draft will make us a serious contender. They know all of this, while the coaches are clueless and ignorant in the ways of football. It's always been this way and always will be I'm afraid. As for myself, I don't understand some of these picks. Still, I feel like we've left the draft an improved team. Rounds 1-4, I understand completely and am very satisfied with.As for the rest, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I was talkign about Kieft. The Center pick was fine, even good. The Kieft pick was awful.oh and are you comfortable with kooistra on the field? i am sure as hell not. i hope the 5th round guy forces him and andrews to improve or get cut...cuz right now they both are taking too long to develop for a roster spot.Kooistra isn't the backup, Andrews is.our depth at de and dt are fine now with robinson, askew, clemons, powell, smith, thornton, geathers, moore.Clemons is entering his 11th year. Justin Smith's contract expires next year and will probably want more money than he is worth. our depth at safety is fine too now that we have linebackers in front of them. williams, ratliff, herring, kaesvaharn are fine. We'll have to agree to disagree. I suppose you wouldn't have been interested in Thomas Davis had he fallen to us at 17.gg

I trust Marvin in the draft, I'm not freaking out. The only way you all can say the draft picks were bad, if your a NFL coach. Other than that, you all dont know what your all talking about. None of the picks were screwups, for all we know they could turn out to be the best thing to hit the team.

Qc_Bengals
Yeah, marvin probably said "This guy sucks and he won't make the team, but lets take him". C'mon, wait until you see him play before making such comments. Nobody has taken a snap in the nfl and we have not see what he can do. If they took a guy in a position they don't need one, it's because they think he can take someone else's place.

TJJackson
No, you draft a guy BEFORE you need hm to a guy you expect to lose to FA so he has time to learn the system. You want to plug in a rookie in place of Justin Smith, or you want a second year player who has the system down and has been in the DL rotation? THANK YOU NOT-ANOTHER.Thats about the best thing I've ever heard you say.Yeah, I was confused about the WR, big deal.Ill get over it. He wants to play here, great.THe Center and OT were good picks. Coach Lewis said it himself, Andrews will be groomed to play left, and the new guy is handling the right side.Oh yeah, it also helps to realize THAT WE DIDNT HAVE 11 PICKS THIS YEAR.PLEASE PUT THAT INTO PERSPECTIVE.Yeah, I was a little miffed that we didn't get a safety. Oh well, Kim Herring is still on the team last time I checked. Coach Lewis feels good about his Defensive Tackles and he honestly doesn't think thats the problem, missing tackles was.Hey, I already know I don't know s**t about the draft process.I looked at those guys profiles, and I'm excited nonetheless.Lets see them play first (Chris Perry anyone?) before we mark the draft and the season as a total disaster. BengalNation1281
I don't understand why anyone would be freaking out about the draft because of picks made in the second day. Marvin knows what he's doing, he looked at what was left and chose the guys he thought would be the best fit for the team. We got another DE, we got a C of the Future, we got a good, young WR, and we got Pollack and Thurman! How can any of us complain about that?Yes, there are a couple of places where we still need help, but I for one am very pleased with the draft. I now wait patiently for the 2005 return to the playoffs that will be ours this year.WHO DEY!!! :player: :player: :player:
