The best of the best from this season. All stats are for the entire NFL.

Shayne - 4th in scoring; 5th (tie) in FGs made

Rudi - 6th in rushing yards; 8th (tie) in rushing TDs

Chad - 3rd in receptions; 6th in receiving yards

Tory - 2nd in interceptions

And a few other things that wouldn't appear in the stats.

Carson - Is the real deal; no QB controversy in Cincy this offseason

Kyle - No more holding your breath each time we punt

Madieu - Defensive Rookie of the Year?

Marvin - Took the laughing stock of the league to consecutive 8 - 8 seasons

brivk by brick Marvin has laid the foundation of this team. Even though I don't run around doing cartwheels because we are 8-8, two years of non losing season could easily be considered a success on the part of Marvin

Yea. Plus I feel a LOT better with this year's 8-8 record than last years.

But now, with the rebuilding seasons past, we MUST make the playoffs next year. Anything less would be a disappointment.

I wouldn't mind to see Landon Johnson on the list. :)

Yep. Landon was a very nice surprise. And Deltha. And Keiwan. And Big Willie did his Big Willie thing again this year -- that can't be overlooked. There are plenty of positives and good performances from this season -- too many to mention. But that doesn't mean that we will continue to settle for 8 - 8 seasons. Next year, the playoffs. :player:

Offense:

Carson-Awesome first year. I really wished he would have been able to complete the season not only for the expirence, but also more confidence going into next year

T.J. Houshmandzadeh - Where did this guy come from? HUGE step up after Warrick went down and just what we needed to get DBs off of Chad.

Defense:

Madieu Williams - Things are looking up up up for this guy in the future.

Deltha O'Neal - Not always 100% healthy, but a great addition.

Tory James- A great year with the interceptions.

In the grand scheme of things, most of those players have a lot of time on the field and people have gotten to know them well. The one on your list that I personally was VERY pleased with was our ROOKIE punter, Kyle Larson. Can anyone remember how long it has been since you didn't have to worry about our punter shanking one off every other attempt ?? To GD long !!! I for one am very pleased with his year !!!

WHODEY !!!

All the above and Marcus Wilkins and Reggie Myles.

I'm just now able to remember Wilkins' name without looking at the roster, but number 55 stepped in right away and began elevating special teams play. He's always around the ball and is a solid tackler.

Reggie Myles has been recognized as a special teams ace, but the way he was popping people in the Philly game is something that I haven't seen nearly enough of around here. It was a beautiful thing to see.

-- Other players deserving the " Honorable Mention " awards..

1. Langston Moore - Stepped in after Tony Williams got hurt, and stats don't lie, as a team we were better against the run in yards per carry and yardage per game.

2. Robert Geathers - Pass rush and long arms helped out quite nicely. Probably a year away from being a starter.

And the fans should also get a mention.

With a poor start to the season (1-4), a tough schedule and a whole mountain of players hitting injury the fans came out and every home game was sold out.

Well done to those folks.

The push in the middle of the DL noticeably improved as soon as Langston Moore went in for Williams. Geathers made plays at critical points in games. The Bengals need more of that, and they're getting marked improvement in that area from the newcomers. Some of the veterans still on the team need to take note - if they had that same fire, the Buffalo game wouldn't have happened.
