Let's breakdown your thinking on that post:How long did it take you to think of that, barbie??1. 10 minutes to get red in the face from homering out.2. 20 minutes to ask your mom/dad on how to reply3. 40 minutes to finger-peck all those letters out in a "rebuttled" post (think "where's the 'H' button"???) 4. 10 more minutes to froth at the mouth--clean up the drool on the keyboard5. 50 more minutes to go out to Wal-Mart (your favorite store) to buy a $10 keyboard because your drool "broke" the last keyboard.6. 10 more minutes to finish your post7. 5 minutes to find where the "question mark" key was.If you're going to come at me, you better be armed with something more dangerous than this quote. Come'on, "Not Another Bungles Loss", you can do better than this. I hope. The mighty football god has spoken. He got his facts screwed up again. Wal Mart aint my favortie store, geeeeez. The mall is. schweinhart Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 I don't want this week dominated by the poor offense, play-calling or whatever! I do think the defense deserves awesome props.A few notes of the Defense's recent play:Not given up 20 or more points since the loss to Tennessee and 4 of the past 5. Second week in a row defense has given up less than 300 total offensive yards. 12 sacks in the past 2 games. Not bad for a group of kids...The D freaked The Steelers out. They swarmed relentlessly for the whole game and never wore down despite the lopsided TOP.Bettis got his yds. but was contained from reeling off big runs.Red Zone D was domination. Steelers got no pts three times w/ ball inside the 20 and were held to FG w/ starting field position at Bengals 17.Special teams letdowns made the D's day tougher. The fact they only gave up 10 pts. shows they came to play the full 60 unlike the O.Worst play I saw for D was Simmons not playing the ball on TD pass to Kreider.Overall, this defensive effort was as impressive as the Broncs game. Just too bad Big Ben don't throw picks like Jake. Bettis isn't the type of runner (lack of breakaway speed) to reel off big runs. I called the Bus getting 130+ for the game. He got 129.I called it basing my decisions on:1. The Bus is on his last leg (worth 150+ against the Bungles)2. The Bus isn't a breakaway runner (worth 100+ against the Bungles)3. Bungles Defense sucks (worth 170+)So, you just take the average of the 3--which would be around 130.BTW, the Squeelers weren't s**tting about the Bungles' Defense--they were playing their own type of ball--and Drunkowski f**ked the Bungles right in the ass with his play calling. With Bettis reeling off 129, the Squeelers were quite in control. Why try to win with a 1st year QB, when you have a sure thing with the biggest Bungle Killer of them all--Bettis.It's a f**king joke that Bettis still pulled 129 off. That defense of the Bungles sucks big fat ones. Bettis ain't a breakaway runner speedwise but does bust runs into the next level by breaking tackles. The Bengals D mostly kept him out of the secondary and shut the door on him when they needed to.BTW, the Steelers were playing their own type of ball? Sure, the running game and having Big Ben make plays out of the pocket is their type of ball but not having him get sacked 7 times. Between the variety of blitzes, a solid 4-man rush, and the excellent coverage by the secondary, this was clearly a great game by the Bengals D -- a great game for them that kept the team in the game.Just didn't translate into a W, which is all that matters bottomline. As for the Bengals D sucking big fat ones, the run D remains among the very worst in the league w/o question. But the secondary is quite good this year with a promising future Quote
Sox Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 The defense has made great strides. In the last four games the rookies have really stepped it up.Madieu and Landon have played great, and Ratliff and Geathers have played well when they're in.Langston Moore has more than adequately replaced Tony Williams.Anyone who can't see this is just choosing not to.Things are looking much better on the defensive side now.Add a big fat run-stuffing tackle or two to the rotation in the off-season and it could be great. The_Next_Big_Thing Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Until this week, when a backup QB and a backup tight end made them look like fools..... WTF was that out there? Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Until this week, when a backup QB and a backup tight end made them look like fools..... WTF was that out there? For a while there I was having visions of the Tennessee game with backup QB Billy Voleck coming back to haunt us! **shiver-shiver** Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Billy, I was too!Thank goodness Geathers had a nice sack and there was some light buried deep below the massive number of touchdowns we allowed! Quote
HoosierCat Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Until this week, when a backup QB and a backup tight end made them look like fools..... WTF was that out there? That was an 8-year vet QB with a 74 lifetime rating -- comparable to our own backup QB's numbers -- and a 6-year vet TE who's averaging 9 yards a catch this year doing their thing. These guys aren't in the NFL by accident. Quote

Especially that part about getting the Big Fatassed DT!!!If the Bungles get turnovers next year like they did this year, then there could be a bigtime party in Cincy. Quote
schweinhart Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Make all them bastids run suicides until they puke. A godawful atrocious effort on D. Just when you think they got a phase of the game under grips, the Bengals D takes a huge dump in the middle of the field. Jeesh. Quote
