At least Timmuh helped a team make the playoffs. More along the lines of Akili or Ryan.

Ryan? you better not be talking about Leaf....he is the man :P

Heres an unbiased comment from a Browns fan. You cant blame your QB when your Defense cannot defend the run nor the pass. Sure Carson Palmer is making mistakes, but how many bungles fans called him the next football God? Did I think it was a mistake to bench someone that was on fire for a rookie, yeah. You cant do anything about it now. Benching Palmer would be a huge mistake, and could blow his confidence. They are giving up 350 + a game. Thats why you are loosing. Unless you play Jake Plummer and Jay Fiedler every game, you guys wont win many.

Listen to the Terds' Fan. He knows what he's talking about. Thus, 295 yards on the ground to Jamal. Congratulations on that record.

And Cokehead's going to do some lines, come back from suspension, and run all wired up for 300 yards on the Terds this Sunday.

Oh yeah!!!!!

From the Professionals at CBS Sportsline and the new Power Rankings:

Cincinnati Bengals 25

It's not Carson Palmer that's holding this team back. It's the defense. They can't stop anybody.

As bad as alot of folks want Jon Kitna to come in and lead the Bengals to "salvation", it simply wouldn't make sense at this point, and with every loss suffered by the Bengals it will make even less.

There is no real way to know for sure if Kitna would have had any different results as QB, but you have to remember he wasn't without his bouts of throwing INT's or fumbling the ball when sacked! That's a problem for EVERY QB a one time or another.

Palmer a bust ? Wake up guy's Kitna had alot more working for him, he had an O-line that played well & gave him some time to throw, a running game, P-dub had his best year & while Kitna had the best season of his career he still came up short ! Now look at Palmer , he' s played less than half of a season of Pro ball with a banged up O-line, an inconsistant running game to take some of the pressure off him, no P-dub & as of yet no other Rec. ( KW / TJ ) has stepped up in place of P- Dub, freaking TE's dropping every damn ball thrown to them ! It seems pretty simple to me... the O-line isn't getting the job done !!! Hell teams are getting to the QB rushing only 4 people & we have way to many STUPID penalties that kill drives, they haven't been able to get Rudi going with any consistancy. Look at the article on Bengals.com , they mention that the Squellers out of 27 1rst & 10's they hand the ball off like 24 times, that is a nice luxury to have for a Rookie QB! How many times do we try to run on 1rst down & lose 2-3 yrds / have a freaking false start thus having 2nd & 3rd & long forcing Palmer to HAVE to throw. There's no question in my mind that we want to run the ball but it's pretty hard to do when there's no holes & you don't get yrds on 1rst/2nd downs! So it boils down to getting our butts kicked on the lines of both sides of the ball ! One last thing you need to consider is that if you sit Palmer then we'd be starting all over again next year! Personally, I'd rather take our lumps now, rather than sacrafice the future for a very slim shot at the playoffs! WAKE UP & GET REAL :player: GO BENGALS!!! Jonboat

While we are throwing up Peyton and David Carr and Donovan first-year stats, could somebody throw up David Klingler's and Akili Smith's first-year stats and see how they compare? You know, just for fun?

And just to throw this out there, I would have been happier if the Bengals had used the first pick in 2003 to get some defensive help and gotten Ken Dorsey in the later rounds. Or if they had drafted Leftwich instead of Palmer.

But the old saying is true: if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, then oh what a party we'd have.

I know that Akili never threw for over 200 yards a game, EVER, from what I remember. Yet there are still bonehead Bungal fans (which there are a lot of them) who think he didn't get a fair shake and would've been "great" had he been given more time (he didn't get a fair shake, but neither is Palmer, and he's had several 200+ yard games already and another over 300 against Baltimore). Akili had plenty of time on the bench to learn to for a few years.

Having Peter Warrick and the combo of Dillon and Rudi in the backfield helped Kitna out more than anyone here seems to care about, instead they're obsessed with Kitten hands who, for the first time in his almost decade-long career, threw for more TD's than INT's last year.

From Bill Parcells:

Parcells on Palmer: Better arm than Big Ben's

04:14 PM CST on Thursday, November 4, 2004

By MATT MOSLEY / DallasNews.com

IRVING - Cowboys coach Bill Parcells is at it again.

The man who quite prophetically announced three weeks ago that Steelers rookie quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was the best prospect he has seen in the past 12 years has now turned to Bengals second-year quarterback Carson Palmer.

"The guy's arm is probably better than Roethlisberger," Parcells said.

He added that Palmer would have a similar record to Roethlisberger if he had the same suppporting cast. The Steelers are 6-1.

"Throw Palmer in there [Pittsburgh] and I think he would do well," Parcells said.

He said Palmer's numbers (136-for-247 for five touchdowns and 10 interceptions) don't reflect how he has played, adding that Palmer had put the 2-5 Bengals in position to win several games.

how bout these first season stats -

david carr 2592 yds, 9td, 15 int

joey harrington 2294 yds, 12td, 16 int

mcnabb 948 yds 8 td, 7 int

etc, etc...................get the picture???????????????

The picture is the same for all of us who stand looking in front of it. The only difference is how the individual interpets the image he sees.

I truly wanted to believe Palmer would go his 1st season as a starter with any real growing pains, but as it readily evident now, that was being grossly over-optimistic to say the least.

Many fans (possibly bax, maybe a couple of others... ) here are still sold on Kitna. Seeing as how I really never was that big a fan of Jon, or saw him as anything more than being a solid journeyman or backup QB thoughout his career, it's easier for me to accept our current QB problems that this transition brings.

I'm still having problems with losing, but being the true blue Bengal fan that I am, I'll manage to get through it...again!
