roar loud
Seriously , If I was bronco fan , I would be very upset with the player, I wouldn't support nothing about it .We all saw it , that was down right wrong. In my book its legal if he does it when the other is looking so he can react to it. Foster purposely injured the man. Broncos did it to Jacksonville's Paul Spicer who suffered a broken leg on a low block by left tackle Matt Lepsis. In the last 2.5 seasons you guys have put 5 players out for the season.Thats strike 2 this season, If it happens again you can say that the season is going to be over because You guys are going to have so many injuries from teams getting you back. Quote:"I got a lot of extra knees in the pile the rest of the game," Foster said. "I was just happy to get out of there. I thought they were going to come after me."__________________Chop block the New Orleans Saints and They will definitely do it back twice as bad.. Thats just how we do it down here. BengalszoneBilly
Many Denver fans aren't happy about the block and Williams injury, but what can they realistically do about it? It's up to the NFL rules committee to rectify this problem IF they decide to!
JPW
Everybody knows that being Allowed to Cut-Block is total BS and that the Rule Needs to be changed. It may help if enough people would write to the NFL concerning it.I have been unable to find a email address for the NFL.I may have to break down and actually write a snail mail letter. ShulaSteakhouse
Shannahan is the most unrespectable coach in the NFL bar none as are his players. The Broncos suck and they have to resort to doing things like that I guess. The players union should somehow black ball everyone on that roster until they address it - purposely going after a guy's legs with your helmet is uncalled for - I played football for 11 years into college and the DB's would take cheap shots at me by clothes lining me in practice when going up for catches since they were too scared to take me down with a normal tackle or big hit and look stupid. The coach put an end to that kind of thing after a couple of practices and that was that.In HS we had a rule that you could NOT block below the waist PERIOD - there was no such thing as cut blocks. If you did that it was either a 15 yard penalty or you were booted from the game. Why in the world the NFL allows blocks below the waist is beyond me. I cannot remember our college rule though off-hand. It seemed like the higher up you went the more that was allowed....which is stupid as guys are so big and strong in college/pro ball that people get hurt much too easily and it kills the quality of the game. BengalByTheBay
I think it has a lot to do with the league's general dis-concern for lineman. They take ridiculous steps to protect the offensive skill players, but don't seem to care at all what happens on the line. Believe me, if something like that happened to Tony Gonzales, Todd Heap, etc. while they were trying to block (not that they really block much anyway), there would be suspension, fine, and general bru-ha-ha from the league. As it is, they have allowed Denver to get away with this forever. I guess it's okay as long as none of the league's stars gets hurt, right?BTW - I seemed to notice Foster on the sidelines after that -- like they knew there would be retaliation if they let him back in the game. That's like a AL pitcher headhunting knowing he can't get hit back. Definitely not the way football should be. If he didn't do anything wrong, why hold him out? richmond_mat
It was a legal hit and that's that.YOU CANNOT LEGISLATE MORALITY I don't like it But what are you going to say when a bloke gets blocked to the ground and he breaks his collar bone? The result for the team is likey the same
BengalByTheBay
What we're saying is it shouldn't be legal. You can't touch a receiver 5 yards down the field. That wasn't a rule last year. Rules change every year -- there should be a rule to protect against that type of play. And that....is actually that. jjakq27
If that happens on a Sunday afternoon, not too many people get to see it. But since it was on MNF, the whole world gets to see that. Maybe that will be enough for the NFL to finally change the rules. There was a play later in the game where a guy took a dive at Justin's feet from behind. Luckily he was able to side step the guy and avoid injury himself.I thought there was a rule against blocking below the waist. Is that just for downfield blockers or does that pertain to the linemen also?
