...last night around 3am near Dayton, according to WLWT.com.

Nice job Justin, keep up the good work. At least do something like this in the off-season.

I'd be drinking too if I was on that defense.

A sidenote: I see Smith at a local bar I go to a few times and he throws 'em back that's for sure. Thank god Goff is gone or Smith could be clinically dead. ^_^^_^

Bengals' Smith arrested for DUI

What a dumbass...

By Mark Curnutte

Enquirer staff writer

Bengals defensive end Justin Smith was arrested this morning in Montgomery County for driving while intoxicated.

Montgomery County Sheriff deputies arrested Smith at 3:05 this morning in Washington Township and taken to the Centerville Police Department, a sheriff department spokesman said.

Smith agreed to submit to a breathalizer test. He blew a .152, almost double the legal limit of .08, according to the arrest report.

A Montgomery County deputy observed Smith weaving across the centerline at least three times. The deputy pulled Smith over in a jewelry story parking lot on State Road 725.

After submitting to the breathalizer test, Smith was transported to the Montgomery County jail in Dayton and booked at 4:44 a.m. He was released on $1,175 cash bond at 6:17 a.m.

The Bengals had no comment today. Spokesman Jack Brennan said the organization would follow its policy of not commenting until the matter was legally resolved.

Smith, who turned 25 on Sept. 30, is a fourth-year defensive end from Missouri. He was the team's first-round draft pick, fourth overall, in the 2001 draft. He has played in 51 games with 47 starts -- including all four games this season -- for the Bengals.

Well doesn't this just cook the goose.

What a disappointment. Now, instead of getting guys healthy, focusing on what is causing the on-field problems, we have this wingnut getting toasted and trying to drive home, in Dayton no less. I guess you'd have to get up to Dayton, to a real rat-hole corner bar, to simulate the hometown feel of his Missouri roots.

I think this speaks to the professionalism of one Justin Smith. Nice way to distract the team, Asshat!

I was willing to cut JS some slack. But after this--I cannot.

This lacks professionalism on all fronts. During the year, I think athletes should be focused on the game and not partying.

This is horses**t, Justin, you f**k.

It's now official, folks. Justin has now been BUNGLE-IZED.

Bengals look into Smith case

10/5/2004 - Updated: 2:15 p.m.

BY GEOFF HOBSON

SmithThe Bengals are looking into defensive end Justin Smith’s arrest overnight on charges of driving under the influence and had no comment Tuesday. According to Kettering Municipal Court, Smith was arrested Tuesday morning in Montgomery County and will be arraigned Oct. 12.

According to NFL policy regarding a first offense in an alcohol-related matter, if Smith is convicted or admits a violation of law, Commissioner Paul Tagliabue can fine him, suspend him, or take other “appropriate” action.

The policy also states that “absent of aggravating circumstances,” a first offense is generally fined not more than $20,000 and doesn't usually involve a suspension. The policy also indicates that Smith must enter the league’s intervention program as part of its substance abuse policy.

Smith, who turned 25 last month, posted a $1,175 bond, according to the court.

Smith, the club’s first-round draft choice in 2001, led the team in sacks over the previous three seasons with 20 after setting the Bengals’ season rookie record with 8.5. He has one this season in the first four games. According to league stats, he is tied for second on the team with 20 tackles.

According to an incident report filed with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Smith was arrested at 3:05 a.m. on Southwind Drive in the Centerville area after his truck was seen "drifting," more than once. The report said he took a chemical test and recorded .15, exceeding Ohio's limit of .08.

$20k. Expensive nite out. I still can't figure these dimwits, tho. You're making more money than 9/10ths of the known universe, you know you're gonna be drinking, call the friggin' limo service. It's obviously cheaper than a deewee...

Now, as for me, damn..out of Nati Lites. Oh, wait, it's almost five, gotta get ready for the evening push...that means time to make a pot of coffee sweetened with Wild Turkey Liqueur...

...yeah, I know, I got issues...hell, I'm a Bengals fan...

Yeah, I can just see myself telling my future kids this story:

Son: "Dad, who were the 'Bengals'"???

Me: "Son, they were a respected franchise started in 1968. They went to 2 Super Bowls back in the 1980s. They earned respect across the league then."

Son: "Yeah, but it's like 2015??? And now they're the Bungles."

Me: "Well, a certain dimwit took over the club when his father died named Mike Brown. It was like the plague that killed 1/3 of Europe in the Middle Ages."

Son: "Uh.....what???"

Me: "Nevermind. Hand me that bottle would ya, son??? I have some Drunkowski-Smithing to do...."

:lol::lol::lol:
