Barbarian
I'm in favor of the Offensive Playcalling. Drunkowski is still abandoning the run, EVEN WHEN THE BUNGLES ARE AHEAD--WHICH IS TOTALLY ASSNINE!!!!!! What do you guys think???

Bobcat Bengal
I voted for the obvious: Run defenseI shouldn't even have to explain why this is the most impo'tant.
jbengals1
Im sorry but i voted The Run Defense, we have to stop the run and in most games we would have if they learn to wrap when they are in there gaps !!!
BengalszoneBilly
I voted run defense, although the pass defesne wasn't anything to crow about either.
schweinhart
I vote run D because it's most glaring.A close 2nd would be pass rush. The Bengals have next to none. More QB pressure would make big difference.
bengalsfan33
No doubt about this one. We need help at Run D. Go out get another LB, maybe Gildon. Were not out of this yet boys...Who-Dey!!!
kevnz
I don't know, I wanted to vote for two things. The run D and the playcalling. Damn with the lead on first down Brat calls 3 fricking passes in a row....That is not how you manage the clock or take the pressure off the young QB you have. Rudi was eating big chunks of yards and you pass? WTF?

CTBengalsFan
will there be another back besides Lamar Gordon who WON'T run for 100 yards against us? i don't know that there won't, except maybe Dallas...
cover2
We finished last season with poor run "D" and its still not fixed.

Add on that, facing a critical 3rd and 4 on the pittsburgh 32 with momentum and you choose that moment to feed Kenny Watson the ball on an off-tackle run? His fumble may have been the least surprising thing ever in that circumstance. Follow that up with the subsequent playcalling, the five passes in six plays, and the game was lost right there. Right at that exact series of moments in the 3rd quarter. Simply heinous.

They had done nothing to stop the Bengals and even the announcer said this one could be over if the Bengals score. But of course they didn't, yada, yada, yada... ackley1
I voted for the run defense but the playcalling was horrid too. What about that 3rd and 1 we had where they ran the same f**king screen that they ran on the previous drive.
schweinhart
Unquestionably Brat's playcalling is situationallly suspect. For Rudi to slam his helmet to the ground after an ill-advised pass on a 3rd and 1 is testament to that. I respect Rudi for doing that and admire him even more for putting forth the kind of vicious effort he did vs. Steelers because quite frankly he can not be signed to a contract extension this year due to salary cap and has accepted his position to leave it all out on the field this year. It's not like Dillon throwing his gear into the stands after the 2003 season finale because Dillon was a whiney a$$ prima donna, even though his point was well taken in the fact that Brat should have run him mercilessly last year vs. Rams and Browns to give the Bengals their best shot at a playoff bid last year. KYBENGALFAN
I thought I'd never say this... but after this season, the bengals should buy out the contract of Sam Wyche (now, an assistant coach with the Bills) and make him the new offensive coordinator. I know some of his antics as Bengals coach were kind of lame (like running up the score on the Houston Oilers, by calling time out so the Bengals could kick a field goal to put the score over 60 points (61-7)), but he was much more imaginative with the offense, with then QB Boomer Esiason who could run the play-fake better than anyone. I see a lot of James Brooks in Chris Perry, so with Perry as RB and Palmer play-faking the run to Perry and going long to Chad Johnson, that's how I see the Bengals offense should be run. So what if we need to outscore our opponents, because our defense can't stop anyone.. Let's Play Bengals Football -- Outscore the Opponent!!! schweinhart
No doubt outscoring should be a goal of the Bengals O even in a shooting match if need be. That along with controlling the clock and we got the goods to do it w/ the hardest running back in the NFL -- Rudi Johnson.BTW, that 61-7 game was the best I ever seen I'd like to see that every week As for Sam. I don't know that he's got the vocal presence to be an OC with the throat cancer and all. As Bills QBs coach, he's probably got the best job he'll get at this point because Drew Bledsoe doesn't listen to anyone anyways

If I were in Rudi's shoes, I would use Mike Brown as leverage in the offseason for a better contract somewhere else. We've never heard this before as fans, huh??? Rudi has the numbers right now. I think other teams would be interested. If I were Rudi, I'd want out.

They won't tag Rudi with Perry in the wings. I really don't believe Rudi will be here next season.. I can't believe Perry would be a backup next year -- and how ever long the contract runs for a new Rudi contract.

I can't believe Perry would be a backup next year -- and how ever long the contract runs for a new Rudi contract. Agreed. And again, it's been reported by DDN's Ludwig that the Bengals did offer Rudi a long-term deal during the offseason and he turned it down, wanting to try FA. Not much you can do about that. And frankly, if the story is true, then Rudi arguably hurt the team by thus making it necessary to draft his replacement (the same way Rudi got drafted, because Corey was being a d*ck). kevnz
But I think they will tag him. They won't hold hard and fast to a 1st and 3rd pick. But they are likely to trade him for either a first or maybe a high second round pick. The team will have a lot of extra cap space next year to be able to take the cap hit short term of tagging him. At the very least he get's a transition tag. And hopefully he can net the team a 3rd round pick like Spikes did.

I kinda agree with Kirk here--in that that Rudi won't be offered a contract this next year and will be let go. I think Mike Brown will look at Rudi's denial of signing that long-term deal as possibly an unofficial breach of his loyalty clause. With Perry in the wings, it makes sense that the RB position will be turned over to him. Rudi is as good as gone. You may find him in a Raiders Uni next year.
LABengalsFan09
Rudi, if he signs elsewhere, will be a cowboy. Parcells wanted him bad last year but the Bengals wouldn't budge. Good thing they didn't! Barb, I had to go w/ the play-calling.... I cannot fathom why you would throw on 3rd and short with a back chuggin for 5 yards a pop. Not only did they throw, but they ran the same play they ran earlier in that situation on the goal line?!?!?!? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, and I'm a friggin idiot! A Lebeau non-Bengals defense is never an idiot, and the offense payed the price and got the crowd back in it. Maybe the Bengals can trade Chris Perry now, and accumulate enough picks to draft USC's defensive line. The Wild Bunch 2 could stop the run and harrass the passers better than the Bengals' mild bunch! :player: :player:
