BengalszoneBilly Posted September 30, 2004 Report Share Posted September 30, 2004 I love the races at this 2.66 mile long track, because you just know that sooner or later (probably sooner if Robbie Gordon just happens meet any one of the guys he's cost some points to since the Chase started!) someones going to get just a bit too racy with some other driver and look out! Here comes "The Big One"!! Cars spinning, banging, and smashing at 200+ mph until one lucky driver finds out it's HIS turn do the air show in a car, going end over end, just like you did as a kid with your "Hot Wheels" toys!Well last weekend sure shook things up point-wise, and I doubt this weekend in Alabama will do anything towards calming things down! Here's my picks:Chevy: Jimmie Johnson. Strong here in the spring and is VERY P.O.'ed at Nascar!Dodge: Jamie McMurray. Races well here, and want to prove he's Chase worthy.Ford: Mark Martin. The strongest, most consistent, and HUNGRY man in this Chase!The biggest plus for me from the new Chase for the Championshop format? If the Cincy football game starts turning into an embarrassment, I usually cannot not stomach the brutality being inflicted on the Bengals. Ford: Kurt BuschDodge: Jeremy MayfieldChevy: Dale Jr.Other - Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson. We can't exclude the Hendrick team.. they've come close to par on their restrictor program with DEI. And how about Sadler logging some more flight time on the last lap in the 38 car? If he keeps this up he'll have his pilots license in no time at all! Earnhardt Jr. replied, "It don't mean s--- right now. Daddy's won here 10 times."NBC later issued an apology for the inappropriate language. After several media requests, NASCAR is reviewing the post-race videotape, according to spokesman Mike Zizzo. Any penalty would be handed down Tuesday at the earliest, Zizzo said.There is precedence for Earnhardt Jr. being fined and/or docked points. Two Busch Series drivers were penalized for inappropriate language earlier this season.Ron Hornaday was fined $10,000 and docked 25 points for "use of inappropriate language" during a live radio interview during a Busch race at Dover in June. Also, Johnny Sauter was penalized the same amount of money and points for the same infraction after a Busch race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March.Earnhardt Jr. pleaded his case in the Talladega press box later Sunday."I hope they understand it was in jubilation," Earnhardt Jr. "I know that me and those other guys that got fined let it slip, but it's two different circumstances."When you're happy and joyous about something and it happens, it's different than being angry and cursing in anger.
