walzav29
Everything I read says that the Bengals will lose Sunday, which of course means they are in good shape. The only irritating thing will be though ESPN\Total Access\HBO all jumping on the bandwagon if we win. I'm glad the Bengals get no respect. Hopefully that will give them the chip they need. I dont know about no respect, the ratbirds are the defending divisional champs. We are 3 point dogs though. I like that..... :player:
WHO DEY AGAIN?
I thought the game would be a pick. I'm really shocked it's at 3 points. If I was still a betting man I would take the 3 and laugh all the way to the bank. :player:
Tampa Bengal
The poor showing by the offense put the Bengals in this spot. If the same offense that played the Jets shows, and the same D that played Miami shows, the Bengals will be unstoppable. But hey the special teams looked good in both games. ShulaSteakhouse
Offense has to find a way to score points obviously, probably 17-21 of them if they want to have a chance to win. The defense is not going to detonate the Ravens o-line like they did Miami's. They cannot let the Ravens control the clock on offense or their defense will never let the Bengals' offense get in gear or have enough series to score points. That said I say blitz Boller to death and don't worry about giving up a big play or two - clock management is key against them and the defense creating turnovers via blitzing and stunts is key.You know the Ravens are going to try and run Lewis down their throats all day so getting to him behind the LOS and trying to create long 3rd down situations is key seeing that the Ravens' have little talent at WR this year.Again the Bengals' offense is going to need as many posessions as possible in order to outscore them, do NOT let them dink and dunk and get 4-5 yards per carry in the running game consistently and control the clock like the Jets did. Be aggressive again on defense as that's the only way the Bengals' defense is going to create a winning situation against good teams this year.Duane Clemons needs to step-up Sunday and have a big game because Ogden will shut Smith down. BengalByTheBay
Good ... I'm not the only one who prefers the low-profile at this point in the season. We tend to implode when we become the trendy sleeper pick (witness 2002). As far as handicapping this game, I do think overall the sentiment is that the Ravens are a better team, or at least more consistent. However, this must've been one of the hardest games of the week to figure because nobody really knows what the Bengals are going to do out there after 2 one-sides performances on opposite sides of the ball. Finally, it's a division game and a lot of the matchups, etc. you would usually look at probably go out the window and we're looking at turnovers and a couple of big plays that may decide it. I, for one, am glad we're home dogs because it might take a little of the pressure off.
membengal
Not everyone is picking the Ravens. Here is Vinnie Iyer of foxsports on the game:"Baltimore at Cincinnati. Considering the Ravens are missing key starters Travis Taylor, Todd Heap and Peter Boulware, they should consider having Ray Lewis and Jamal Lewis join Deion Sanders in trying to play both ways. Facing former mentor Brian Billick's team at about 60 percent is a huge break for Bengals coach Marvin Lewis and his team. Marvin will have his defense play close to the line to stop Jamal, while Ray will play a big part in stopping Rudi Johnson and Cincy's running game. This game will come down to which team's second-year Pac-10 quarterback makes fewer mistakes. With Chad Johnson and Peter Warrick on his side, go with Carson Palmer over Kyle Boller. Bengals 20, Ravens 19."

wookie
Chris Carter picked Baltimore. He said that the Ravens D will shut down Rudi and that would leave the game in Palmer's hands which would favor the Ravens. Palmer still has to earn the respect of the NFL pundits. No one seems to think he can handle his starting role and carry the team if the running game falters. I'd say that he has done pretty well, he led a good drive at the end of the Miami game, and if he gets protection you have to respect his abilities.I for one think this will be like the Dolphins game, same ugly performance, and same outcome. Brian
Noone thinks Rudi will run on them.. Our o-line has to make some plays and give him some room to break this team
