there are considerable character knocks on Nolen

Unless these turn out to be smoke, I dont want him til r4 or later, and yeah, I know he wont be there

Take character risks late, if at all

Say it with me, folks:  Jermaine Burton

What other lineman look good at 17ish?

The big knock on Nolen I have seen is the lack of consistent desire to be great.
He clearly has the ability to do so, but his motor runs cold at times and disappears.

One thing mentioned about him was he's so quick off the ball AND he slashes so much eventually he'll guess wrong and gets washed out of the play.   So you are going to get a mix of big and not so great plays.

I was very impressed with the Tenn DT at the Senior Bowl Norman-Lott.  Right now he's got the development, 4th round tag on him.

Nolen has a slightly higher draft prospect grade on him than last year's favorite Newton.

Just searching around this appears to be a more talented and deeper selection of DTs this year.  Hopefully they can land one.

Yeah, both DT and edge seem pretty deep this year, which is why I haven’t been locked in on dline at 17. Won’t complain if they end up going there but I don’t think it’s the end of the world if they don’t.

From the way the analyst talk you could get a high end DT in the 20s and could realistically get a solid starter in Round 4.     That's not even factoring in that the DB depth seems better this year vs. last.

I think this is all pointing to a Higgins coming back on Tag at min.   You can dump the salary cap on him and realistically grab some key defensive pieces.    Just spit balling based on what the dudes are saying

With all the character and work ethics knocks on Nolen, I am sure he will be there at 17

Given his immense talent, it really comes down to finding out if these warts on his intangibles are real or not.

I hope our scouts and coaches spend a great deal of time finding out the truth on this, because we could really use a TVondre Sweat type of guy on our DLine, but I dont want another big duddy

If they want someone who cant tackle, Army is available

Hell yeah I am.

Once I get this degenerative disc disease, rheumatoid arthritis and PTSD under control and cut back on the whiskey, I’m all in.

Come to think of it, a couple of those things might actually help. Anger issues and pain killing agents probably are a bonus when tackling.

Yep, put me in coach !!

If the Bengals need someone who, at the snap, will run in the opposite direction yelling “I give I give don’t hurt me don’t hurt me” I’m their guy.

In all honesty, I have no business being anywhere near a football field.  Well, unless I'm cutting grass or have good seats.
In terms of actually playing football, that never appealed to me.  I was always short and light in the ass.

Soccer was my sport.  Played since I was 4, played all over the world and finally called it when I was about 35-36 years old.
Great sport and provided great memories.  I miss playing, but love watching.

Back on topic...

I like the Norman-Lott kid out of Tennessee as well, but am not sure why he has missed games in almost every season he played in college.
I'm assuming injuries, but am not sure.  Still looking for the clone of my favorite Bengals player at that position.
GENOOOOOOO !!!
