ShulaSteakhouse
Considering they played without O'Neal and Steinbach and Warrick, and completely dominated the SB Champs, and Palmer completely showed up Brady as did Rudi did Dillon...they certainly have it in them to beat anybody.Very encouraging night. hottub
Bill Belichick would probably agree. This is what he said in his post-game comments:Obviously the Bengals played great tonight. They were outstanding in every phase of the game. We didn't do much of anything well. I thought that they totally dominated the game - obviously, every phase of it: Offense, defense, special teams, and all the situations within it. They played aggressively, they played well, they didn't make many mistakes. And We didn't do any of those things. We didn't coach well, we didn't play well - we got totally outclassed tonight. You can listen to the whole press conference if you want at the Patriots Official Website if you want. Living in MA, I saw his remarks live, and though they were worth sharing.
Kirkendall
I still wonder how much the Pats used in their playbook not to give away too much tendencies of the team when they meet Dec. 12th. Team did look great, impressive win tonight against the SB champs.

WHO DEY AGAIN?
Could Palmer make me eat my words?? I think you'll eat alot of crow. Your statements and observations are misinformed and downright ignorant.I try not to get too high or too low when it comes to pre-season games. Palmer looked good just like he did last week. The same with Rudi and if I were Marvin I would limit his touches from now till the opener. The whole Dillon saga was great. He is going to be the biggest flop in the NFL this year and I doubt he keeps his job past week 8. Once you lose that desire you don't get it back. The run defense looked good again. The O line looked better. I think if we stay away from any major injuries we should the team to beat in our division. :player:
kevnz
I still wonder how much the Pats used in their playbook not to give away too much tendencies of the team when they meet Dec. 12th. Team did look great, impressive win tonight against the SB champs. But then the same could be asked about what the Bengals didn't show tonight....This was more about how the teams match up, not how the coachs coach. Hell most coachs don't actually game plan for the opponent during the preseason....Saying that I have a feeling a lot of teams are gonna take a long look at what the Bengals did to dominate the Pats...Plus I'm really impressed with our second and third stringers for holding up against the Pats 1st StringersBut it's only the preseason....If I'm not gonna condemn them for losing one, I'm not booking Super Bowl seats for winning one....But the two most important games during preseason are games 2 and 3....We won #2 in dominating fashion against a team that really really wanted to win, and I honestly expect us to win #3.....Sorry Falcon fans....Game #4 is only guys trying to earn a roster spot as the 1st team only plays a series or two. Lets not forget this is the Patriots first preseason loss in forever. Belichek DOES do a game plan for preseasons, and he takes them very seriously. He did try to throw wrinkles at Palmer with blitzes, disguised coverage, etc. Carson did everything right. There's a reason Bill looked like he had just lost his mother about halfway through the game. There's a reason he kept his starters in throughout the game.... WHO DEY WHO DEY WHO DEY THINK GONNA BEAT DEM BENGALS>>>>>>NOOOOOOOO BODY!Especially not Corey! BAHAHAHAHAH Great hit Nate!
wookie
Just like I said on the Pats-Bengals Official...thread I'm not going to get too excited over this win. Its still just preseason and the Bengals will face a different Patriots team in December. The Bills thought they had something last year when they came out and totally dominated the Patriots in the opening game...the Bills finished with a losing record and we all know what the Patriots did.Belichick was obviously upset with how his team played yesterday and they may be a little behind in the preseason, but the Bengals have to keep up this level of play and improve upon it each week to win the division and make the Playoffs.Don't let this game make you completely forget how they tanked against the Bucs on Monday...lets just hope the Bengals continue with the type of play they had against the Patriots. 1 game at a time, not matter what the results. But damn, it was good to see them win again!!! :player:
PatsFanTX
I still wonder how much the Pats used in their playbook not to give away too much tendencies of the team when they meet Dec. 12th. That's probably true to some point. However, the fact of the matter reamins that the Bengals physically dominated the Pats in every phase of the football game. That does't happen to a Belichick coached team too often.Palmer looked terrific and will only get better. He should have a field day against the Jets weak secondary in the opener. You folks should feel pretty good. Totally dominating performance by the Bengals. He should have a field day against the Jets weak secondary in the opener. You folks should feel pretty good. Totally dominating performance by the Bengals. True, Palmer looked great and he will only get better, but the Jets secondary looked really good against Manning and the Colts yesterday so we can't say yet that he'll have a field day against them. Even though we all hope he will.I feel really good about the Bengals performance, I enjoyed it yesterday and today I'm back to wondering which team will show up against the Falcons. They have the advantage of being at home again, but I'd like to see a similar performance next week to make me feel even better going into the opener. They have the advantage of being at home again, but I'd like to see a similar performance next week to make me feel even better going into the opener. So far, these two preseason games remind me of the first two regular season games from last year. Against Tampa two weeks ago, and against Denver on opening day last year, the Bengals seemed confused and tentative, and were easy pickings for their opponents. A week later, the Bengals make a quantum leap forward. Last year, only a late INT saves the Raiders from being knocked off in Oakland; last night, we spank the Pats. On both occasions, fans wonder where this team was the week before.Hopefully, it's a sign they're revving up a little bit quicker this year than last, and that would bode well for Lewis' goal of avoiding another slow start. Jungle_Fever
Much better attitude fellas. Seen the game first hand last night. Total Domination. They couldnt stop us if they wanted to. I'm only counting the first half since they played their starters against our wannabe's in the second half. This game is a truer indication of what we can expect. Our boys came to play and I loved every minute of it. Best parts were squashing, smashing and knocking back CD and the fumble just icing on the cake. Get on board neh sayers, the train is leaving the station.
hottub
Don't let this game make you completely forget how they tanked against the Bucs on Monday. You're right, of course. But thinking of that games reminds me of another point. The Bengals played Tampa Bay on Monday, then played the Pats on Saturday - a short week under trying circumstances. The Bengals of 2 years ago would have been dragging tail by the end of the first quarter. These Bengals were crisp all game long. To me, the seemed better conditioned and better prepared at this point than any Bengals team in the last decade. I've been skeptical about this team this year, but I was impresed yesterday... I was very impressed. Joisey's point didn't escape me either, that they were playing on 4 days rest. I just am not ready to be like those Bucs fans who came on here and bragged about how their team dominated the Bengals. Lewis is one Hell of a coach, not many people in his position would have been able to take a group of guys who had their A**es handed to them on Monday, after being in Florida during a natural disaster, flown them home, and had them ready to play like they did on Saturday against the defending World Champs.Hats off to Marvin Lewis for that one!! ShulaSteakhouse
Do you honestly think that will happen in a regular season game?It could, why not? It wasn't an illusion. This offense has proved it can put points up on anyone last year, they're just getting better. Do I expect it to be 28-3 at half Dec. 12th? No.

No I really don't. If it was in the regular season, we wouldn't have gone to playing the scrubs in the 2nd quarter. The Pats would of had to endure Palmers abuse into at least the 4th quarter, and by that time the score would have been TWICE as bad! :player:

Blowouts happen on a regular basis during the NFL season. Heck, up until last year, multiple 30-or-so-point losses were a regular feature of Bengals' seasons. And they've been known to run up the score themselves, albeit more rarely. Their last romp of this magnititude was the Texans game -- fulfilling Chad's famous guarantee -- in 2002.Will the regular season game between the two teams be as lopsided? Who knows? But you bring up a point I'll be looking for this season: I want a laugher. I want at least one romp where Palmer is sitting on the bench drinking Gatorade and cracking jokes before the end of the 3rd quarter. I want to see Bramlet taking a knee on the final series.Last year, the Bengals finally stopped losing by scores like 35-0 on a regular basis. The worst beating was the opening day game vs. Denver, which they lost by 20. But they never won big, never dominated anyone. Their biggest margin of victory was 8 points. A blowout or two this season will show they've taken another step forward.

Sox
Just a friendly reminder to the Patriots fans who have been posting-we are in NO WAY knocking your team. You have a great team that has won two of the last three Superbowls, and most of us realize things could go differently in December. But see it from our perspective. After 12+ years of frustration, our very young team with a new starting QB showed much promise last Saturday night against the reigning Superbowl champs. That's why most of us are excited. That is all.
