HoosierCat
So Josh has been tweeting PFF nuggets in the last day or so. These include such sparklers as: Tanner Hawkinson (-11). Of 536 o-linemen who've taken a snap in preseason, that ranks 533. "Jethro" Bodine (-5.4). Of the 105 centers who've snapped in preseason, that ranks 100. Then we have Cedric Ogbuehi, who will probably start the year on PUP and Jake Fisher, who has not impressed in preseason. And of course Moobs is dealing with yet another (foot) injury, which is worrisome because in 6 seasons he's only played a full slate twice. Yeah, I know, it's preseason etc. But it sure looks like an area of concern to me.
skyline
I'll choose to look at our years of solid o-line play and go with that trend over the preseason #s. But hey...I'm an optimist. Hardly surprising on Fisher, by the way, since he hasn't practiced much. It's going to take him some time.

HoosierCat
This is funny...Moobs is getting beat and Jeremy Hill tries to ride to the rescue... https://twitter.com/JoeGoodberry/status/638362756484362240
HoosierCat
Hardly surprising on Fisher, by the way, since he hasn't practiced much. It's going to take him some time. I suppose, but you'd think a second round pick would show a little better than this: All of this led to Pro Football Focus giving Fisher a horrific -9.0 grade. [for the Bears game] That's a very hard thing to do in just 43 snaps, and it already has Fisher ranked 206th out of 210 offensive tackles who've played in the preseason. I know that in the lineup of dead horses, few are more thoroughly beaten that Paul Alexander, but when player after player is just putrid...I dunno. Just doesn't feel good to me. Not sure I've seen that done in a Bengals' uniform in a long time.

GapControl
I said with the Bodine pick that I'm judging Alexander's career off it. Two draft picks for one player had better equal a better than average center. We will see if Bodine can hold up against Danny shelton and others this year. GapControl
Jake Fisher was very disappointing in every facet of play during the Bears game.
ArmyBengal
The Bengals moved up 12 spots in the 4th round and only gave up a late 6th round pick. That's the kind of stuff, most of have been looking for them to do but never see and it's not like you expect that 4th rounder to be a pro bowl player year one.Do I want to see Bodine play better ?? Sure, but I'll keep it in perspective. Jake Fisher being disappointing in his first game ever and after coming off an injury shouldn't be a surprise. Many were suggesting that if we wanted him, we would have to grab him in the first round.I will readily admit that the depth of the o-line is a little concerning to me.Better stay healthy !!!
