HoosierCat
So after my disappointment with Cap2 I was prepared to be let down by summer popcorn flick No. 2, Godzilla.Well, OK, to be honest, I was prepared to be let down long before that. I grew up watching all those cheesy Toho flicks on channel 19 every Saturday. The only movie I can recall seeing in college was the 1985 Godzilla reboot. And I consider the 1998 abomination a hanging offense. I have the Criterion edition of the original, both the Japanese version and the Raymond Burrized one. In short, I'm a big G fanboy. And the further we've gotten from the cheesy but very fun 50s and 60s, the worse the crap has gotten. So I was expecting to be let down.Instead I got blown away. For me this was a pitch perfect effort. It won't be for everyone, but if you are a Godzilla fan this hits all the right notes.
redsbengalsbucks
It will have to wait, not spending that much money on Godzilla. Gamara OTOH I would spend money to go see in theater.
HoosierCat
I hit the matinee and skipped 3D this time so the damage was just $5.75 for the tix. Popcorn's a bitch. The plot of Godzilla is basically a ripoff of the last Gamera reboot, Gamera, Guardian of the Universe. Great flick too. COB
I'm massively looking forward to Godzilla. My 10 year old already saw it, but he's a man of few words when it comes to movie reviews (or anything else). I'll check it out based on this recommendation.
