icehole3
Since the season's about over what grade do you give the Bengals 2013 draft?Benard had ROY consideration and Eifert was under used IMO but you could see he had big play capability. Overall I grade the draft a C-.
HoosierCat
Tyler Eifert - Incomplete. Showed flashes but IMO was not well-utilized.Gio Bernard - A. You can make a case for Eddie Lacy being the better back but the Bengals got exactly what they were looking for.Margus Hunt - Incomplete.Shawn Williams - C. Really didn't make an impact but cost a third round pick. Still early tho.Sean Porter - Incomplete, obviously.Tanner Hawkinson - Incomplete. Active quite a bit but never got time. Per Alexander is still a project.Rex Burkhead - Incomplete. Why do the Bengals keep spending late round picks on RBs who never/barely play?Cobi Hamilton - Incomplete. Maybe he can beat out Whalen for a roster spot next year?Reid Fragel - F. Now a Brown, so you get an F. That's just the way it is.TJ Johnson - Incomplete. But I'm sure Hobson will have a story up in the next couple months about how he's the sleeper Center Of The Future.
ArmyBengal
It was my issue when they picked him and is still my issue today.Shawn "Crocker Jr." Williams being a 3rd round pick.He couldn't get playing time when people got hurt.He could still develop into a really good player, but I hate seeing what we got from our 3rd rounder.Eifert was quite possibly the most underutilized first rounder in Bengals history. If they weren't planning on using him, there were some really good players left on the board that could have made a larger impact. He's the one that Ken Riley was tutoring and spoke highly of him. I wonder where he is in the mix?

jjakq27
http://sportsillustr...don-richardson/Interesting review of the first round from 2013. Gio would have gone to the Packers at 26 since PIttsburgh would take Lacy earlier. We would have taken TE Jordan Reed from Florida at 21. Eifert would drop out of the first round. We would still take Eifert, and get him for a steal in the 2nd round.
ArmyBengal
That's just ridiculous on many levels. If we are playing the whole "knowing what we know now", we wouldn't take Reed anyway. At least not with players like Mingo, Warmack, and Fisher still on the board. COB
I give it an A. Bernard produced immediately. He's an impact player, and with the new CBA we get his peak years for a pretty bargain price. If he gets wrecked in the first 4 years or so, not unlikely at the RB spot, we avoid the big dollar years. He's a stud and just what we needed at running back. Our OC with Bernard was like me with beautiful women - did not know what do do with it.Eifert - loved his potential, and again he wasn't used much, not his fault. He's got a ton of talent, and I think he'll be a top 5 tight end.Margus Hunt - Best Estonian NFL player ever. We'll see what he can do because he's probably going to play a lot next year. Nothing about him says bust, nothing about him says superstar. Servicable, but with a high ceiling based on measurables.Shawn Williams - I'm skeptical, but Iloka took a little while to develop. Willims can at the very least play teams for the life of his contract, ie not a bust.Burkhead - I think he'll make the team next year, he can do the law firm's job if he gets nicked, which is probably going to start happening. He can also be a missile on teams. That's five players who will be on the team and 3 could be starters. The other two can make meaningful contributions. That is an A draft in my book. So many drafted players, even in the first 3 rounds, just flat out can't play. Getting this many contributors, and one of them being an impact guy, is a home run. Porter, Hawkinson, Hamilton, etc., so far I know almost nothing about them, at best I'd hope we get some depth out of the rest of those guys. ArmyBengal
An intriguing player from that draft to me is Cobi Hamilton. There were thoughts that he was a little lean and had some technique concerns.Maybe the past year was good to correct some of that and take a spot manned by one of the unused WR's already on the roster.
