princeton Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 I think you also have to take into account that BJGE was the "bell cow" last year and he isn't much of a threat to take it outside.exactly right. Bernard Scott was supposed to help, and didn't. Opposing defenses could pinch in, with very little risk. Bengals took a little flak for drafting Gio so high-- they had a later pick in 2nd round, and it wasn't clear that anyone else would have picked Gio that round. But there's no shame in reaching, as long as it's for a missing piece. Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 On the subject of the oline, the Bengals are one of three teams' olines that FO will focus on this season. The first installment:/>http://www.footballoutsiders.com/word-muth/2013/word-muth-previewing-bengals Quote
Stripes Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 If Sir Winston Churchill once said of Russia it "is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma," you wonder what he would he would say about Bengals right tackle Andre Smith. If he saw Smith play so powerfully and well in the first two preseason games he would probably say, "This is his finest hour," because that's what people whom have watched every snap of Smith's five NFL seasons are saying. That may be the most pretentious lead ever written on bengals.com. Will someone please go slap Hobs?Man sometimes Hobson makes me cringe. That's unbearable. Quote

ArmyBengal Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 How far did the Jets trade up for Sanchez ??There's your "sheesh" moment of that draft. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 I just saw on PFT that Menelik Watson is out for a month now after knee surgery.Watson, you may recall, was the guy the Bengals said they were prepared to draft in round two last April if Smith had not re-signed at about the last possible minute.So...if Smith hadn't taken the Bengals' offer, not only may we have lost out on Gio Bernard, but our starting RT right now would be...Dennis Roland.Bullet dodged. Thanks, Gilligan! Quote
