membengal
The idea that he could catch on as a CB and play teams isn't far-fetched. Didn't we have some hyphenated UDFA dude playing at the end of the year at CB last year? There's room there...
HoosierCat
I believe so. My guess is that they are just trying to find someplace to stash him on the roster more than anything else. He strikes me as the perfect replacement should Hawkins get hurt.
kingwilly
I see this as a "theme" for the Bengals PR to build up."Super fast yet wildly undersized RB must battle his way onto roster by trying any possible position. Root for him now! Click here to read more from Hobson....."That kind of thing. Is Pacman about that fast in pads with the ball in his hands? Probably. Is Hawkins? Probably.Just realize that for every .10 in the forty, it is 6 inches of space. So, difference between 4.29 and 4.45 is about 9 inches, or less than half a waist, over 40 yards..... TJJackson
0 inches - within reach of an arm-swipe9 inches - just out of reach of an arm swipe
kingwilly
0 inches - within reach of an arm-swipe9 inches - just out of reach of an arm swipeafter 40 yards.... with a whole series of other factors not considered.Speed is important. At 168lb, adding 6-10 lbs of gear is a bigger % than when you are 200lb. How that affects his 40 is something I'd like to know.Point being, for an UDFA it is already tough. Not really having a position but being very fast yet very light makes it interesting but no less difficult to make a roster.
TJJackson
Yeah, he will need some luck to make the team, no doubt
ArmyBengal
Again, I don't really see him making this roster.Only pointing out that if they truly like the kid, his best shot is at CB.He's not making as a RB on this team. Not happening unless there are a FEW injuries.
HoosierCat
Yeah, he will need some luck to make the team, no doubtTrue, but if by "luck" you mean "guys ahead of him start dropping like flies" then it's not that far-fetched. Hall is about the surest thing. Beyond that, Newman is going to be 35 this season, and as we saw a few years back with Tory James, when CBs go they tend to fall off a cliff. Pacman just played the first full 16-game season of his entire career last year. And there's been chatter that Kirkpatrick is still not healed up.After those guys, the roster features such world-beaters as Shaun "check my latest Hobson puff piece" Prater, Chris Lewis-Harris-Wentworth-Biggleston-Smyth, "the other Terrance" Brown and, of course, I.R. Ghee. That's not exactly pro bowl competition.
TJJackson
Prety much that kind of luck, yeahits conceivable we could have all sorts of injuries at rb and/or wr and he might then get a look at those spots as wella lot of "if"s, tho
