HoosierCat
Good news, at least IMHO. Wonder if he'll stick, it's only a 1-year deal. I wonder how much of the move is a message to Tony Williams...?Best line of the bengals.com piece of the move: "With some concern about their run defense after Friday’s intrasquad scrimmage, the Bengals..."Oh, waitaminnit, there's a problem with our run D? Hey, Marvin, what happened to all that talk about being satisfied with what we had and how it was all the scheme and not the players? Good news is that Steele adds some depth and he knows the system and staff.

BengalszoneBilly
Hmmm. Nothing about it on the Steelers offical website.
kevnz
Not me. The Benglas are notorious for not announcing things until it's finalized so I trust the Bengals on this one as it's from their official(ly bad) website.
HoosierCat
No, but steelers.com does note they signed some DE named Anthony Herron, late of Iowa, the Lions, the Packers, the Lions again, and most recently, the Indiana Firebirds! First XFL QBs, now Arena League DEs...what's next, Pop Warner wideouts?

jjakq27
Maybe they had Steele confused with Adrian Ross.

Kirkendall
I'm sooo glad our rush defense has improved so much this off-season. I have to say, knowing the massive glare of failures this team endured coming from the D-line, little has been done to improve this portion of the team. No, I'm not happy about this d-line and my frustration goes back to Lee Suggs 186 yards and the Browns 264, not just the sup-par acqusitions.I mean even Bengals.com has a heading about it after a freakin' mock game.. something has to be amiss if Hobs is talking about the d-line like that before the first pre-season game! JPW
John Thornton: "I'm glad Glenn came back today. He fits in well with us and he already knows our defense."I am looking for about anything to hang a Hope on as far as our DL goes.
BengalszoneBilly
I mean even Bengals.com has a heading about it after a freakin' mock game C'mon guy's. The key word in that sentence is MOCK! And what's more is that it was against their own offense. There is no way they were going full tilt against a bunch of guys they were under directions NOT TO HURT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Hasn't anyone here scrimmaged against their own team!?! What did the coaches say before you went in? They said let's get a good workout, run the plays along our playbook, AND NOBODY GET HURT!! Anyone who's been there realizes interteam scrimmages mean little in real world terms.Let's re-visit this subject after the Tampa Bay game. THAT will be a far better barometer than this offensively biased scrimmage was.

schweinhart
Steele didn't suck last year and the roster isn't final. Pretty much sums it up. At least we've got a backup DT in the rotation with game experience for now.

There still may be a good pick up out there yet.
