Changing of the Guard

Its the nature of sports. The 49ers had to get past the Cowboys, The Patriots had to get past the Bills of the 90's, The Bulls had to get past the Pistons etc.... The point is that the Bengals are the youngest and most talent loaded team in the AFC North. It is just a matter of time before they pull ahead. I hope it's this year, but its on deck. I am postive that this young Bengal team is sick of losing to the Ravens and Steelers and will break through.

Come on Army. You said you would talk a little about playoffs if they were 7-5. Its hard not to look at those games. All the news of Ben being back, along with not beating Pitt since 2009 has gotten in my brain. I'm excited for Sunday though. I do feel confident because of how the Cowboys play on the road, their o-line troubles, and the confidence building at home. Evident by the NYG and Oak blowouts.

I don't know if there's any guard-changing going on yet, but I will say that while I don't think the Bengals are any threat to the Super Bowl this year, neither are the Steelers or the Ravens. It would not surprise me at all to see the Bengals beat one or both of them. Longer-term I think there's a window of opportunity for the Bengals as age catches up with Baltimore and Pittsburgh. But the Bengals need to retain their key guys and keep hitting in the draft. Historically, that's been a challenge.

And I will agree the playoffs are now a possibility for them.

My comment had more to do with them being motivated to beat both the Ravens and the Steelers.

If they had lost any of the last 4 games, that motivation could have still been there, but it wouldn't have been to get them into the playoffs, it would have been for pride.

Yep. Good drafting has served them well the last 2 years (the Tobin's and those extra scouts make a difference, go figure).

Lippincott "retires."

Would help to sign the right guys at the right times also, still not doing that.

Makes you wonder what Marvin demanded in order to stay the year before last, that we don't know about.
