I blame the defense

The defense has been such swiss cheese, that has been the biggest stunner. People seem to be piling on Dalton, but obviously he has to press because the defense can't stop anything. Dunlap is a ghost. They didn't sniff Manning. But the lose Sunday, although expecting was extra obnoxious because the Bengals had more yards and won the turnover battle, and still lost. If the table were flipped, they would have lost because of the turnover battle. TO lose 3 straight at home is really bad.

They are trying to focus on Dunlap becoming the next Geathers, making him into a run-stopper, and he isn't playing as much when he isn't doing that well. He also has bad work habits and lacks motivation, it's why he slipped in the draft so much, it's showing. Of course they're not going to pay a guy decent $ who only plays on 3rd down. That's why Rucker and Fanene were let go.

I say quit trying to change the guy, and let him do what he does best, but get him in the gym for God's sakes. If your LB's were worth a damn, you wouldn't have to worry about him being a run-stopper. And start paying guys that do something well, the position they play shouldn't matter, period, not at all.

Dunlap is not a three down DE. I think this year has made that quite evident. The DE rotation made Dunlap look like the second coming of Jevon Kearse. This year he looks like Jevon Kearse in Philly, not Tennessee. A rotation of 4 DEs is ideal in this system. The same at the DT position, which they basically have. Sims will make a huge difference in the run defense if he is able to talk Marving into letting him back on the field.

Pat Sims would be a great safety. Did you see those hands today?
