HoosierCat
is it just me, or is it damned odd to keep a long snapper on the PS?Even odder, he was released today.
TJJackson
I don't understand the TE signing at allBut I suppose this means, given that the fellow they signed is mainly a blocking TE, that they really wanted to re-sign Cochart after getting Cook onto the "will return" list. Said in simpler terms: they gambled and lost here.
kingwilly
With Garrard on the street, might be interesting to sign him and PUP him.
ArmyBengal
Can't say as I really care at all about who our 4th TE is.Just trying to think off the top of my head, even though i've seen the names, I can't remember who almost any of the practice squad players are, so I put the TE situation in that category. It's a move that will have almost zero impact on the entire season.Gresham, Lee, and Charles are the top 3 TE's.
princeton
Gresham, Lee, and Charles are the top 3 TE's.if Bengals thought that Charles could handle the 3rd TE spot, then they wouldn't have signed a 4th guy. I think that Charles is 4th string and will be inactive for all 16 games.

HoosierCat
With Gresham hurt, Charles had every opportunity to impress in camp and preseason. At least as regards blocking from the TE spot, he apparently didn't. That doesn't particularly worry me since there are lots of college TEs who need to be taught to block. Keeping a 4th TE is a roster luxury that most teams can't afford. Keeping 4 TEs and 7 WRs sounds like a strain on the depth of the defense, which isn't particularly healthy to start with. Charles' inability to block shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I like the fact he will have almost a whole season to see how things go sitting behind Gresham and Lee. No one expecting him to start will work out nicely for him.
Sea Ray
It's interesting to hear folks talking about how good Gresham's blocking is because that sure wasn't the case when he was drafted. It's a tribute to him that he's now got a reputation of hurting the team in the run game when he's out of the lineup.
cHaD711Johnson
Well, Cochart was released. I'd bet they re-sign him and drop Quinn.
