No real surprises...

- Tate is the No. 2 WR

- Mays is the starting SS

- Dunlap starts at LDE with Geathers hurt

Things that caught my eye:

- Sims is No. 2 behind Peko, relegating Brandon Thompson to 3rd. Meanwhile, Still is No. 2 behind Geno.

- Orson Charles is totally buried, trailing even Colin Cochart

Brian Leonard is 3rd string behind BJGE and Bernard. That tells me Leonard will likely retain his 3rd down back role and will make the team. He's a clutch back and seems to make a lot of first downs when things are looking grim, so I'm glad he isn't on the way out of town.

With the exception of Still and Ziegler, all of the rookies are buried. I don't expect it to stay that way though.

I don't put too much stock in these things at this point of the year. If I did, I would have be worried that Sanu wasn't going to make the team... but I don't think anyone is really concerned about that.

Exactly where I am at this point as well.

For the most part, rookies should start at the bottom of the depth chart

Maualuga is obviously the starter in the middle, but I found his comments about Burfict very encouraging.

"He's way ahead of schedule. Way ahead of where I thought he would have been," Maualuga said. "Way ahead of where I was last year at the mike position. Smart, he's very patient. That's where I tend to learn my game from watching him play in our practice reps."

The RB Brown looks quick. WR Hilton looks like a solid WO, dont think he will even make the PS though. Binns looks good in 85, and Dalton, Green and Gresham look to be gelling very well so far.

I really don't think there's much to talk about with the RB's minus injury.

They will keep 4 and BJGE, Scott (injury?), Leonard, and Peerman will be those 4.

Get Brown to the practice squad and see what happens after this season.

I agree, but he does look pretty good.

Is Brown eligible for the PS? I dont know the rules for a player that has NFL experience. If Scott is going to be down very long I could see Brown filling his spot. He looks good wtih his hands.

Yep, Brown is not practice squad eligible. My mistake.

He played in almost every game in 2009, 6 in 2010, and only 1 in 2011.

However, according to the link, the time in Detroit makes him ineligible.

Each NFL team may keep up to eight members on its "practice squad" in addition to the 53-member main roster. They consist mostly of rookies who were cut in training camps and borderline NFL-caliber players. Both rookies and young veterans are eligible for the practice squad. However, a player cannot participate on the practice squad for more than three seasons, or if he has accrued a year of NFL experience (six or more games on a club's 53-man active roster or official Injured Reserve list.)

This is Rey's 3rd year or so in this defense. And he says he learns how to play in this defense by watching an undrafted free-agent rookie play in it? I don't understand what he's talking about.
