ArmyBengal Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 A 3 game home series starting Friday evening with Leake, Latos, and Arroyo taking the mound. After this series, it's 7 more on the road with the Braves, Mets, and Yankees. They need to keep pace with the Cards, because oddly enough, they don't face them again until the 2nd half of the season in mid July.GO REDS !!! skyline Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 Man, this is a TOUGH stretch of games coming up. Brutal... Quote
Stripes Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 Leake had better be out of his funk, because he's up against Gio Gonzalez and his 1.72 ERA. Quote

semiotter Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 Wow how exciting is this Washington club!! With all the young talent they have I can't wait to watch. Quote

The Reds don't even have to change hotels when they swap series! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted May 11, 2012 Author Report Posted May 11, 2012 I saw that as well Billy and thought that was some pretty good planning on the scheduling part of things.I'd like to see them do well against all teams, but especially the Yankees. I really don't care for them much. Quote

skyline Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 It's time for Chapman to take Leake's spot in the rotation.I love having Chapman come in at clutch times, but watching Leake pitch is just too painful to handle. Quote
Stripes Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 It's hard to be too critical of Dusty for his patience with Rolen, but GOOD GRIEF. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted May 12, 2012 Author Report Posted May 12, 2012 It's time for Chapman to take Leake's spot in the rotation.Um, this. I was having a conversation with friends tonight while watching the game and said the exact same thing.Seriously, how could he be worse ?? Quote

They're just worried about their injury depleted bullpen. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted May 12, 2012 Author Report Posted May 12, 2012 Yeah, I get that, I was just saying. The bullpen is hurting and would be worse with Chapman's departure... Quote
Stripes Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 I'll always believe a strong rotation is a bigger benefit than a strong bullpen. Leake has pitched in the bullpen before so it would be a logical switch. I understand the Reds unwillingness to try it though given the circumstances. Quote
Stripes Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 Rolen heads to the DL for a bad shoulder. Frazier and Cairo get the nod I'm sure, hopefully they can bolster the offense. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted May 13, 2012 Author Report Posted May 13, 2012 Reds blow an opportunity with a man on second with no outs in the bottom of the 7th and come away with nothing.Still 2-1 Nats... Quote
skyline Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 Tough couple of games. It's hard to squander good pitching like that, but the Nats have some of the best pitching/defense in the league so far... Quote
skyline Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 2-hr game for Votto. That's encouraging... Quote
skyline Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Make that 3! Walk-off Grand Slam, anyone? Oh, man, I would have loved to be at that game! Quote
Stripes Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 This Votto guy seems like a pretty decent player. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Make that 3! Walk-off Grand Slam, anyone? Oh, man, I would have loved to be at that game! I'm still going over the box score on MLB.com. Without Joey, it appears we're lucky we weren't swept, and even picked up a game on the Cards who got hammered by Atlanta!Just 2.5 games out. Not too bad, but things aren't gonna get any easier. Atlanta for two games, then on to New York for two against the Mets and three against the Yankees. This road trip will speak volumes about this team. Quote
