derekshank
And... He's a Viking.According to Jay Glazer, Minnesota agreed to terms with him on a 1-year deal.
ArmyBengal
Can they get an upgrade in the draft ?? I agree they probably can and should at least make the attempt. Here's something else. If they truly think they have some viable options currently on the roster, they wouldn't need the newly drafted WR to come in and be an immediate impact. I mean we lost both Caldwell and (so far) Simpson, so even if Binns comes in and plays well, we still need another WR. Either way, I think they could get reps for both of them through OTA's and camp and see where they stand.
HoosierCat
I remember wanting James Hardy, glad that didnt happen.Same here. Glad the Bengals at least dodged that bullet.Good luck to Jerome in Minnesota.
ArmyBengal
I admit to originally wanting Limas Sweed.DeSean Jackson was a close second.Honestly, I was like, Jerome who ??I didn't know a d*mn thing about him.
princeton
Simpson's exit opens positions for Bengals' two first rounders:17. Michael Floyd, to replace the catches21. Janoris Jenkins, to replace the indictments.
Scottishbengal
With Simpson gone to Minnesota (nothing showing on Bengals.com about it) we're left with Armon Binns, AJ Green, Andrew Hawkins, Vidal Hazelton, Jordan Shipley, Brandon Tate and Ryan Whalen. Whilst there is undoubtedly upgrade in depth to be had in the draft I'm not convinced a Blackmon or Floyd type pick is required for the wideout spot early on (first 3 rounds).Similarly with the RB situation ... we now have Law Firm, still have Benson, and also have Aaron Brown, Brian Leonard, Cedric Peerman, and Bernard Scott. If we want to operate running back by committe then we have enough ammo without desperately needing to burn an early pick on this position. My view on these positions is : Upgrades available - yep, desperate need to take these picks early - no.I know it's not sexy, and won't boost the season ticket sales but gimme a lineman to protect Dalton and make the running game more effective. Gimme a CB to save the 3rd-and-long = big play. Gimme a DT. Gimme a DE. For gods sake gimme a decent LB - a quarterback eating machine. Gimme a kicker. Gimme a tight end. Gimme a play-off win. Gimme a general Manager.
BengalszoneBilly
Gimme a general Manager. Why don't you ask for a threesome with some supermodels while you're at it. The odds are equal.
HoosierCat
Brandon Tate He's still on the roster? I'd completely forgotten...The Bengals will draft a wide receiver at some point in the first three rounds. It's what they do. Though Lewis' comments on the .com give me hope that they will address the defense first. Assuming, of course, that isn't so much smoke... ArmyBengal
Benson is a free agent who is not under contract from my understanding of his situation, so he's not going to be here. After AJ Green, everything is a question mark. While there are players I like, me liking them doesn't make them anything more than a question mark moving forward. Shipley off injury, Binns off practice squad, Hazelton off practice squad, Tate and Whalen getting limited reps, Hawkins was decent with opportunity.Aaron Brown ?? Cedric Peerman ?? While I might like them, I wouldn't count on them for anything more than camp reps. Scott underwhelms me everytime he touches the ball and think he could be upgraded as well. While we might not spend a 1st or 2nd rounder on RB, it also wouldn't surprise me in the least.I would love to see OG taken early with someone like DeCastro, because I truly think he would impact things greater than most would be willing to admit. It wouldn't be the sexy pick that people will love immediately, but when the pass and run game improve and Dalton isn't getting hurried all the time, it would pay off. That being said, I now no longer believe the address OG in the first round.I fully expect a CB and a DE to be the selections, minus Floyd dropping.Which brings this back on point.Floyd is a player the team really likes and would present both value AND need, filling a hole with a top talent.Question about how he would be used in our offense ?? Just ask Fitzgerald from Arizona what he thinks about adding a talent like Floyd on the other side of the field. No different here.

Scottishbengal
Can't say I'm sad about this. Shame to lose a player who knows the offence and can contribute immediately (except the first three games), not a shame to lose the character issues.I'm down with this. Kazkal
According to PFT, Simpson's suspension is a mere 3 games. Better than I had expected...Vikings sign Simpson to a one year deal.

Passepartout
Simpson looks like he will get off scott free. As great player but low character, hits the NFL again.

ArmyBengal
If by "Great Player" you mean a player that hasn't learned how to run routes properly after 4 years in the league and is horribly inconsistent, then Simpson might be the greatest player of all time. Thank you Vikings !!!While he wasn't quite as bad I may paint him out to be, I'm glad he's not the Bengals concern any longer.
