icehole3
Scott was headed over to cut block Harrison. So I think the design of that protection was to account for the outside rusher with the RB with Whit and Livings protecting their inside gaps.Livings is the one doing the opposite of what the other guys appear to be doing so I'm thinking that he did screw up. volcom69
Yep there were a couple of times yesterday where the o-line had no clue who to block.Ravens game at the end they had no clue who to block. So im not sure whos in charge of getting the protection right, not sure if its Dalton or not, but somebody needs to step up and make sure this dosnt happen. kingwilly
Whit and Livings struggled. The person who held his own was Collins. How Collins is not getting kicked into the LG spot is s sphinx-like riddle wrapped in an enigma. If there needs to be a max protect formation, how about getting Pressley in there to cut the rush end? At least he has some mass to throw around...In retrospect, the game Sunday revealed the true flaws on the team and exposed the areas that still need massive improvement. This team has quite a lot to be excited about, they are just not there. That they are 7-5, gunning for the playoffs and have two key rookies playing at a RoY level has exceeded almost all expecations. Despite my own personal issue with the execution in the game, it really comes down to being 3-4 players away.1. LG - Livings is not a starting LG in the NFL2. Safety - Crocker is a top flight guy, just not a starting safety anymore3. Cornerback - Leon is a ?. Pacman is going to be solid but is not quite back to form. Jennings is average, which is to say not so great, Clemens is one twisted ankle from being retired, and there is not much else.... CB has to be a top priority in FA and draft.4. Another WR with elite ability - Simpson is simply too hot and cold. This team needs consistency. He drops passes, runs the wrong routes, and is elite talent with amateur mental skills. Crying shame, too, because the guy *could* be the answer. Alas, I feel he is simply stop-gap until they draft another guy to go opposite Green. Also, I am still thinking Gruden's offense is a work in development. There are times when they look poised and fierce, and times when they flounder and bumble. Mostly it is poise but Sunday it was mostly bumbling. Where guys like Simpson and Caldwell disappear to for long stretches is a mystery.
COB
Agree with Willy's assessment on player needs. Gruden has proved he's an excellent evaluator of talent with the picks of Green and Dalton. Now let him pick his own o-line coach and watch this offense thrive.
