Big games coming up this weekend in the AFCN

Bengals and Steelers at 1pm.

Not quite sure how this game plays out but I like the way the Bengals play the Steelers in Pittsburgh under Marvin. I also think that they play the Steelers better with one game under them including the presence of AJ Green and hopefully Carlos Dunlap.

Ravens and Browns at 4pm.

Going with the gut here. With Hillis the Browns are a different team. The Ravens struggle on the road and with Ray Lewis unlikely to play, I like the Browns in this one.

How does this sound after Sunday's games? Bengals, Steelers, Ravens all at 8-4. I think it can happen. If it does, there's good reason to think the Bengals COULD be 11-4 coming home to play the Ravens on a Sunday night nationally televised game on New Year's Day. It's a good time to be a fan, huh?

I feel better about the Pittsburgh game than I expected to, after their lackluster performance against Kansas City on Monday night. Still, they're the favorites at home for a good reason and I think it will take more than just the combined impacts of AJ and Carlos to beat them on the road. The defense is going to have to play the run much better than they did against Cleveland or it will get ugly fast.

I agree though that a win would put the Bengals in a very interesting position, maybe even as the outright favorites in the division with the turds remaining on the schedule.

I'd like to think the Browns could win, and they are a better team than is generally thought (as last Sunday showed) but I think they shot their bolt. We got all they had because a loss all but knocked them out of playoff contention. There was a lot of talk about frustration in the Cleveland locker room after the game and I have to wonder if they won't just fold their tent. Well see.

If that happens, then all i have to say is there are alot of right things happening for the bengals this year, something that has not happened in years past.

Agreed. There would be alot of right things happening for this team. But look at it this way. If the Bengals beat the Steelers then there would be no reason to think they couldn't be 11-4 going into week 17. Also, if the Browns beat the Ravens, which I think they will, the Bengals would be in control of their own destiny in the AFCN after this weekend with a victory in Pittsburgh.

The way I look at it is if we can upset the Steelers--and make no bones about it; it would be a huge upset--then we're looking mighty pretty for a at least a WC and then we can talk about taking the division. If we lose this week, WC is still a decent possibility but a win puts us in the catbird seat for the post season
