combatbengal Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Any word on his injury? Quote
walzav29 Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 I'd bet he's out for the year. The slot looks to be the worst position in the NFL. That was a pretty big blow to his knee. Haven't heard yet, though. Quote
derekshank Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Hobson said it looks to be a "serious knee injury" and is likely lost for the year. It's good they have Caldwell. Not much dropoff in my opinion.I also think that bringing back Quan Cosby should be a no-brainer at this point. Quote
glasgowbengal Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Torn ACL - done for the season :frustrated: Quote
derekshank Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 It's a bummer... but he's got 10 months to heal and rehab before next year's training camp. Now, go get Quan Cosby. He's a great all-around STer, and can play the slot in a pinch. Quote
Sea Ray Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 It's a bitch but that's the NFL. We do have other options, luckily Quote
Stripes Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 I like Shipley and am bummed about losing him, but I don't think he's quite the immense talent that he has been pegged as by many. I agree with Derek, Caldwell isn't a notable downgrade. Quote
jjakq27 Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 I was always concerned about his durability. Hope he is able to come back though. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Reports are that the Bengals have signed Andrew Hawkins off the PS to take his spot. Armon Binns signed to the PS in Hawkins' place. Quote
TJJackson Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Not the UC WR I'd have preferred, to be truthful...... Quote
Sea Ray Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 I wonder why they're not interested in Quan? Quote
Spor_tees Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Hawkins gives them a lot more speed in the slot and he was good in the return game in the preseason. With how big and fast these guys are getting in the NFL, guys like Shipley are becoming a thing of the past. Guys like TJ that can take a hit and get back up are becoming more popular. Unfortunately, TJ lost a step way to fast and everyone noticed. Quote
derekshank Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Shipley is 6'0" 188 lbs. Simpson is 6'2" 190 lbs. Shipley is not that small. Now Hawkins... he's 5'7" 175 lbs. Yeah... that's pretty damn small. Quote
HairOnFire Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 I wonder why they're not interested in Quan? I still say it's because after the addition of Tate Quan was no better than the 3rd or 4th best option at the slot. That said, Tate has already made several very questionable decisions as a returner....so I'm hopining Hawkins gets a look there. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 I wonder why they're not interested in Quan?Probably because he signed with the Broncos today. Quote
BengalPimp Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 Hate to see that happen to Shipley.....even though Dalton didnt use him anyways (4 receptions for 14 yards) I really like the kid. One Hell of a 3rd WR.Here's hoping he recovers well.Caldwell better show something...... Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Just to add to the fun, Hobs reports that Green was limited in practice today with a toe injury. Quote
