HairOnFire
Michael Huff #11 but Weddle #6 The Bengals won't sniff either one, but yeah...I take Weddle over Huff all day long.
HoosierCat
The Cryptkeeper...Clayton thinks the Seahawks could get Joseph for around $8 million a season, which makes him a much cheaper alternative to Nnamdi Asomugha."He would leave Cincinnati for a dollar more than the Bengals are offering," Clayton said earlier this week on the Kevin Calabro Show./>http://mynorthwest.com/?nid=292&sid=507295
ArmyBengal
See, that's the kind of sh*t that gets under my skin. How does he make a comment about him leaving for only a dollar more than the Bengals were offering ?? Everything that has been talked and mentioned to this point was that JJoe wanted to come back to Cincinnati. While I understand that the money would have to be right for him to do that, making a stupidass comment like that makes me want to punch chicken little right in the suckhole.F*CK YOU CLAYTON !!! combatbengal
When this is all over and we’re able to deal with free agents, I say we start by signing our own, esp our DB's. Then we try to land a RB, Benson is gone. I like the guy but he has a hard time holding onto the rock and keep himself out of jail! We need a vet QB to mentor and guide our young rookie. I think we’re good at WR, Shipley, Green, 85, Simpson… We're tight at TE. I wouldn't mind seeing A. Smith replaced, I'm sure he'll show up over weight and out of shape. walzav29
Michael Bush seems perfect. 27 years old, went to Louisville, hasn't been used that much and a UFA. Sign Bush, and resign Joseph.
ArmyBengal
Merged...For what it's worth, I still think JJoe is a must have and would like to see them look RB (after Benson's stupidity) and the o-line.I wish like hell they would trade Carson already. The thought i've read is that the Bengals would have a hard time getting to the 90-93% of the cap being spent if Palmer isn't on the books for 2011.I think that's bulls**t. They could take care of JJoe easily, look at Hall, and possibly still look to improve the o-line.Hall really doesn't need to be looked until later, so.....For the love of God Mikey, go get some players and rid this team of the clown shoes.Sadly, he likes wearing the clown shoes. I heard they were quite comfy and warm...
walzav29
DeAngelo Willams would be a great get as well. They have to do something. This is a straight up rebuilding project.
membengal
I would also like deangelo Williams.
ArmyBengal
I would like Williams as well, but he likes the Dolphins and they appear to be ready to dump their own guys.I don't see him coming here, but it's a nice thought. membengal
Like I said, plenty of fish in the running back free agent sea. In a perfect world, deangelo would be my targets. Paired with someone like Michael bush. All benson has likely done is hurt his asking price.
HoosierCat
This from Lenny P today:No Ordinary Joseph: Keep an eye on Cincinnati cornerback Johnathan Joseph in free agency. Although the Bengals often note his injury history, and point out that the former first rounder (2006) has started all 16 games only once in his career, the five-year veteran has been whispered by several teams as a far less expensive (although his price won't be cheap) alternative to fellow free agent Nnamdi Asomugha.Joseph is only 27 and, if he can stay healthy, is a solid cover guy who may not be as physical as some teams like, but who has benefitted from playing in the AFC North. The Bengals aren't going to spend the $8-$10 million per year Joseph likely could command somewhere else. Compounding the situation is that Cincinnati prefers to try to keep cornerback Leon Hall, who is entering the final season of his contract. On a side note, people in Cincy have told The Sports Xchange that, even though recent surgery to address the neck injury suffered last season by Pacman Jones isn't considered serious by some, there remain reservations in the organization about whether the veteran corner will be able to play in 2011.Okay, let me get this straight: Bengals are not gonna resign JJoe, doubt that Pacman can play, and skipped the top CB in the draft to take a shiny new hood ornament for a team with no QB. Two questions: one, who's going to play opposite Hall, Morgan Trent? Two, who are they going to spend their money on? I mean, they'll have to spend upward of $40 million just to get to the salary floor if Carson sits. Where is this better place to spend money than JJoe? membengal
What will they spend their money on? Heh...new contract for Palmer...
cincyhokie
I am thinking the Bengals will re-sign Benson...and not think twice about it.
BengalszoneBilly
I am thinking the Bengals will re-sign Benson...and not think twice about it.I think you're thinking right. The way I see the opening offensive snap from center for the Bengals in 2011 Dalton will be taking it with Cedric lined up behind him with Chad out wide to the left.Just the way it's gonna be dudes. BengalPimp
Prisco lists his top 50 FA's here:http://www.cbssports...ll-up-deep-poolRanks JJ No. 3 overall, suggesting he'll be in demand. And he has Nnamdi at No. 1 and thinks he could be the NFL's highest-paid defender when the dust settles, which will only drive up JJ's value. On the flip side he has a bunch of corners among his top 50 so the deep class might hold prices down a bit.Michael Huff #11 but Weddle #6 ?.............I like Weddle (Prisco ranked #6) but if I had a choice? No question I would go with Huff. While they are both good tacklers and good in coverage (with Huff getting just a little more INT's) the big advantage is what you saw Oakland do with him last year. They sent him after the QB more on a Safety Blitz which resulted in 4 Sacks (which would have been good for 2nd best on the Bengals last year behind Dunlap).....I'd like to see what Zimmer could do with Huff (Especially with solid cover guys like Hall & JJoe)......Good Tackler, Good in Coverage, good at getting to QB, just a very solid all around Safety who's best years are ahead of him.Dig the Sigcareful what you wish for... http://profootballta...-want-to-vomit/I should believe Warren Sapp? Because I remember Warren Sapp signing a big Free Agent deal with the Raiders, stinking up the field for 2 years (while collecting almost $17 million including signing bonus) then when reports were he was going to be cut because of salary, played 1 good year, kept his job, then Stunk up the field for another year before "leaving the game". Huff was a young player on a dysfunctional Raiders team. Sapp saw his 1st 2 years, but nothing since. He even said in that article that he would have to go back and watch tape of his last couple of years......F*ck Warren Sapp for talking about a player 4 years ago, when he was only in his 2nd year and not even knowing if that player has improved since. . Michael Huff is a hell of a Safety and would benefit GREATLY from Zimmer. I'd be all over that signing. If Bengals fans have learned 1 thing after the '04 Free Agency period, it's NEVER TRUST WARREN SAPP !!!
BengalPimp
What will they spend their money on? Heh...new contract for Palmer...Mikey's mad because he thought he could skimp on the Cap again and maybe get a newer Lumina......guess not
ArmyBengal
Yeah, i've pretty much resigned myself to the thought of JJoe being gone, Benson and Chad returning, and not much else other than some 3rd string LB they claim is a good special teams players. Is this because it's the best thing for the team ?? Nope, it's just the easiest and I simply can't envision thinking this front office is going to go all headstrong into a shortened FA period when they don't do that when they have more time to prepare. There are still UDFA options out there that I would absolutely LOVE to see brought in.I wonder how that will turn out ?? >> Insert sarcastic smilie here <<
ArmyBengal
I was just watching on ESPN about the teams most NEGATIVELY affected by the new CBA rules and the Bengals were the only team UNDER the salary cap that was viewed as it being a negative. Due to the fact they are about 35 mil under the CBA and looking at the possibility of both Palmer and Chad being gone and about 50 mil under the cap. This could very well be the year that many a die hard Bengal fan will call it quits if this gets more stupid than the above thought.
