He had been with the Eagles since 2004 as head coach Andy Reid's assistant and later as an offensive quality control coach.Lewis also shook up the defensive staff in the wake of assistant secondary coach Louie Cioffi's move to Arizona. Paul Guenther, entering his seventh season on the Bengals staff, moves from assisting the linebackers to the defensive backs while continuing to assist on special teams.David Lippincott, an offensive assistant the last three seasons, has been promoted to a full staff position as the defensive quality control coach. His major roles will be in video breakdowns and game plan preparation in replacing Cioffi, and he'll also assume on-field duties with the defensive line and linebackers. So basically we have 1 fewer coach than last year...great. A native of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Urban played wide receiver and was a kick returner at Washington and Lee University in Virginia. After his playing days, he was a graduate assistant at Clarion University in 1997-98, working with the receivers and tight ends, before going to Penn for four years, serving as the director of football operations. “I am very excited to be able to bring Jim to Cincinnati to work with our receivers,” said head coach Marvin Lewis in a statement. “He brings us a wealth of knowledge in an offensive system very similar to what (new offensive coordinator) Jay Gruden is installing for us. This is a very good fit for our team.”Also this:David Lippincott, a coaching assistant the last three seasons, has been promoted to a full staff position, as defensive quality control coach. His major roles will be in video breakdowns and game plan preparation, and he also will assume on-field duties with front-seven players. Lippincott, a graduate of Moeller High School and the University of Dayton and the son of Bengals director of football operations Jim Lippincott, worked extensively with Jerome Simpson last year and was largely credited for his development.Brayden Coombs will return for a second year as a coaching assistant, but with expanded duties. He will add assignments in advance scouting and as an assistant to Marvin Lewis. Coombs is the son of UC assistant Kerry Coombs.
TJJackson
Lippincott, huh?Nepotism (and the employment of former HC Commissioners who helped talk voters into paying for the stadium and all upgrades and upkeep, even when unnecessary) continues to thrive within the Bengals organization

volcom69
I dont understand why everybody keeps talking about Lippincott for when they just got a pretty good WR coach in my eyes. Plus Lippincott maybe as stupid as he is, he still got Simpson to play his a** off this year and work hard and he actully looked pretty good. So before i throw him under the bus i think ill just let the guy coach, not like hes the DC or something anyways.Im just happy about the WR coach they picked up, he seems like he would fit pretty good hereNow if he wears his pants/shorts as high as his Dad does, then we might have problems LOL LOL. I really dont think his postion though means a whole lot, but who knows.

ArmyBengal
Dont get me wrong, I like the WR coach hire they made.Lippy Jr. may be really good, but it furthers the thought of the front office hiring from within. From within something that hasn't worked very well on a consistent basis.I hope he does well though.
