combatbengal
If we lose to the Bills this Sunday, we'll be tired for the first/second round draft pick with the Bills, Cowboys (if they lose), Lions, !!! Panthers have it loced in with onlt one win this far! Either way, if the season ended today, we'd have a top 5 draft pick! Bengals are set on Palmer so I don't think we'll pick a QB. I think he's done and we need a more mobile guy running the offense! So what will they go for? A o lineman? A D lineman? Something else? kingwilly
First, there will be plenty of teams wanting to move up to grab a blue chip QB, so I'd trade down.Second, If they do pick that high and stay there, it will depend on what they will want to do with Palmer.Palmer does not merit the kind of coin he is currently making, so he can either take a pay cut or they can draft a top QB and cut him, or maybe both.If not a QB, then I'd take a guy like Adrian Clayborn (DE) from iowa, or maybe a the DT from Auburn Fairley. Maybe a WR, as Chad and TO should be goners.
walzav29
I would love to see them trade down, but Brown hates that. I would hope there is an all world Suh type is available. Alot of unknowns that will have to shake out before the draft. Depending on the new coach and the schemes.
BengalszoneBilly
IMHO the Bengals could get the top five picks in the next draft, but nothing would come of it with the current coaching staff. Wishing on the draft with this team is like pissing up a rope.
HoosierCat
Sounds like it's time for a special pre-Thanksgiving look at the Cincinnati Bengals Mock Draft Big Board! With the help of walterfootball.com's mock draft database, I browsed through 31 mocks, all updated this month. There's no consensus on any particular player yet, but right now the mockosphere is overwhelmingly predicting that the Bengals will draft defense (yay!), with 23 mocks selecting players on that side of the ball, versus just 8 picking offensive players.Should the underdog side win, mockers say it will be a QB, most likely Arkansas' Ryan Mallet, who leads offensive players with 4 of those 8 selections. Behind him are Auburn QB Cam Newton (2) and 'Bama back Mark Ingram (2).But your early front runner champ-een, is Clemson OLB De'Quan Bowers, who leads the pack (barely) with 6 votes. Right behind him is Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa, with 5 nods. Despite Bowers' early lead, the mockosphere is appears to be settling into a consensus on position: DE, which took 11 of the 23 defensive votes. Here's the rundown:Bowers: 6Clayborn: 5Mallet: 4Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn: 4Cam Heyward, DE, Ohio State: 3Ingram: 2Newton: 2Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU: 2Allen Bailey, DE, Miami: 1Robert Quinn, DE, NC: 1Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue:
Spor_tees
The talking head from ESPN said the Bengals would take Quinn from NC.

Kazkal
we'd have a top 5 draft pick! Bengals are set on Palmer so I don't think we'll pick a QBHow are we set on Carson? He has one Year left in his Contract he hasn't been elite QB for over four years so how are we set?I think Drafting a QB is very real posability worst case it motivates Carson to play better and gives the rookie plenty time to learn like Aaron Rodgers i n Greenbay.First, there will be plenty of teams wanting to move up to grab a blue chip QB, so I'd trade down.People say this every year that they wanna trade down but...-Top 5 Isn't that easy to trade out of-Mike Brown doesn't like to move.As for I'd like to see out of top 5 pick I'd say-QB I love Carson but His best years are behind him and we need rebuild the offense-LT Move Whitworth to the RIght BigDre to Guard and hopefully Alexander will be fired so he won't be inferior players like Livings and Roland-DE I like MJ I Like Dunlap but we need a game changing End...-WR Maybe the next Randy Moss or Calvin Johnson?-S Love me some Safetys but this would be a position i'd only wanna see if we traded down in the 1st. I'd like to see him trade down too but if Luck, Locker or Mallett is available then MB will draft them. Let's hope our pick isn't so great that it'll temp MB with a QB. Unless he fires Bratkowski, drafting a stud QB is a total waste

BengalPappaw
As of today, 17 Nov, we have the 3rd pick in the up coming draft.I'd like to see us work a trade with New England for their 22 and 30 first round pick for our 3 pick. We have more than one problem. Then, I'd like to see us go for "linemen" offense and defense. Next step is to find some line coaches who can develop this talent -- instead of always saying they are not ready yet.My big problem with the Bengals is we don't put guys on the field. I'd rather have Maualuga at middle linebacker -- right now. Let him learn while showing his aggressiveness and attacking style. I'd like to see MJ at outside linebacker. I'd rather have Carlos Dunlap than Geathers. As for the draft at 22 and 30, I take the best linemen available. I'm still reviewing the tapes of the college players so I don't have specific names yet. [but, I have not seen anyone who dominates at the top of the draft -- with the exception of Fairley, sometimes. None of the DEs at the top of the draft put on consistent pressure or appear to be able to consistently beat one-on-one blockers.]

HairOnFire
Gimme a lineman Gimme a name. Unless things have changed in recent weeks there's no offensive lineman evenly remotely close to being ranked as a Top#5 talent. And while several defensive lineman find themselves within that group IMHO none of them qualify as elite pass rushers. In fact, I'm guessing trading down is going to be a very popular option with fans because the top of this draft is currently filled with cornerbacks, defensive tackles and ends, quarterbacks, and a wideout. The Bengals will take the wideout, of course.
HairOnFire
As of today, 17 Nov, we have the 3rd pick in the up coming draft. I'm guessing they'll move up a spot after this weeks upcoming loss to Buffalo. And because losing to the Bills is more embarrassing than a loss to a team like the Colt's it should be enough to bring about the meltdown that so many have predicted. I say, bring it. TJJackson
Gimme a linemanGimme a name. It's early, names will emergeThe Bengals will take the wideout, of course.Just one? C'mon, they always take 2 or 3 even in drafts where they don't need oneso this year, needing one, I am gonna guess they will take 5 or 6 :-)
HairOnFire
Mike Brown has no will power to pass on a blue chip QB. Sorry, but I can't see it. Palmer is already here and under contract so I'm guessing the Bengals will further attempt to salvage what they've got before looking for a replacement. Instead, I'm guessing they churn 'em and burn 'em at WR again, and for once I won't complain....if it results in Chad being replaced. HairOnFire
It's early, names will emerge I don't think so. At least not to the point that an OL will emerge as a Top5 prospect. So if it's offensive line help you're looking for then I'm guessing the conversation won't start until the top of Round 2. If it's defense you're looking for then it's possible, but still unlikely. The Bengals will take the wideout, of course.Just one? No, I'm guessing they'll take at least two.....starting with AJ Green in the 1st round.

That is why I suggested trading down with New England for lower first round choice(s).Anthony Castonzo, OL Boston College; Marvin Austin DL North Carolina (might even slide to lower in draft with his off-field) problems; Jurrell Casey DL USC are possible choices between 20 and 30 in first round. If we are forced to draft at top, then I'd go with A.J. Green or J. Jones or even a QB
TJJackson
trade up, trade down, whatever - give me a star lineman. control the line of scrimmage.I am no longer a big fan of taking the top talent regardless of need. Also, at the top of the draft - no headcases, no divas, no ne'er-do-wells, please. Give me the ever-so-slightly-less-talented fellow who will give it his all every down and lead by example.Take the character risks later in the draft, thanks

If Carolina wins and Bengals lose to Bills, Bengals would have the number 1 draft choice. Depressing!A win could move us to between 7-10. HairOnFire
If we are forced to draft at top, then I'd go with A.J. Green or J. Jones or even a QB That's just the point as I'm guessing there will be no dead cat bounce this season, thereby forcing the Bengals to draft within the Top5. And from the available pool of players projected the only position I can see them going is WR. Specifically, AJ Green.
HairOnFire
If Carolina wins and Bengals lose to Bills, Bengals would have the number 1 draft choice. Depressing! Or opportunity. Regardless, I wonder if Carolina has enough at QB to win another game. I'm guessing they don't so I have a hard time picturing the Bengals moving past the Panthers into the top spot. But that said, I've been predicting a loss to Buffalo for several weeks now and if it happens you've got to wonder how much of a pulse the Bengals will show the rest of the season. HairOnFire
What difference do you see between now and about 15 yrs ago when they had Boomer and drafted Klingler? Mostly I see no evidence of this teams braintrust losing faith in Palmer. Frankly, we can debate endlessly whether that faith is misplaced, but right now all I'm seeing is Palmer being gutted by the media and fans. Bengal coaches and players are still supporting him.
