I don't think Marvin has "quit"

Me either. But like I said in another thread, I'm not sure there's much left that he can do. I know willy doesn't want to hear about "execution" unless it involves guillotines, but at some point guys have to catch the ball, hold on to the ball, make the tackle, etc.

Perhaps I have been a bit extreme in expressing that execution is not the primary issue. Of course it is a big part, and I do concede that.

I look at it as a 60/40 split. 60% is execution, and on the players. 40% is on the coaching, mostly the OC, not adjusting to the things the offense CAN execute, and adjusting to the opponent.

The current situation exposes Marvin for what he is. A poor motivator, game manager and seems resigned to the idea he can no longer "fix" this team.

All of that may be true but to me begs the question, can any head coach fix this team? Is what ails the Bengals fixable by someone at that level of the organization? For years I've harped on the issue of accountability. There's absolutely none in the front office, and I strongly believe that that attitude filters down.

Nothing I have seen or heard from Marvin suggests that he's under any heat whatsoever from The Family. So really, why should Marvin give a sh*t? Heck, he might even be back. He wouldn't be the first coach in Bengals history to win 3 or 4 games and be retained.

True and tragic. What a disappointment.

Give me a break... a couple games ago he twice put 12 men on the field in the same game. A winnable game at that! That's just bad coaching. Marvin has been at the helm since 2003, and since that time Cincinnati has sniffed but ONE playoff game. Throw the 2005 season out, and you've got a record David Shula would be proud of. Marvin Lewis has shot his wad in the Queen City. It's over, and he's done.

I just gotta say that's the greatest signature line ever. By far one of my favorite, ehem, actresses.

Marvin will never quit. He'll continue to go through the motions, prepare game plans, and most of all, let his players do whatever, whenever they want.

John Thornton had a piece in the Enquirer this morning where he praised T.O., then said Chad and Carson look like they're in their first year playing together.

The answer to that mystery is a simple look at what T.O. did in the offseason (ran routes for Carson in California, worked out, practiced football), and what Chad did in the offseason (looked in the mirror a lot).

I despise Chad, but I'm starting to blame Marvin more and more for Chad.

ESPN says its time to blow up the Bengals.

How do you blow up an implosion? ;)

With anti-matter I guess?

With Mooch and Billick both expressing interest, look for Marv to be calling CBS football games next year, or as a studio host for NBC replacing white bread Dungy.

Why don't you look for Shannon Sharpe's taint on your chin.

Dude, what is your obsession with groin? Give it a rest.
