Does anybody remember former WV FB Owen Schmitt he was drafted pretty high (for a FB )by Seattle.

He is a Smash mouth FB that can block AND run the ball pretty well.

He is the guy that head butted his own helment and had his head gushing blood all down his face.

It made alot of sports center highlights reels.

Anyway, word is that he has a tryout with the Bengals Tues. and IMO will be signed .

Which should leave TE/FB Daniel Coats outside looking in.

If we pick up this guy its a hell of a pick up - it would like picking up an extra 3rd round pick - He is a hell of a FB!

Where I live we get alot of WV games and I can tell you he is as good an any FB thats came out the last 5-10 years.

yea i don't get the bengals love of coats. the bengals claim he is versatile they are right. not only can he play fb and te, he can also whiff on blocks and drop passes at both positions! how they cut coffman for this guy is just amazing. they claim coffman can't block, well neither can coats. at the very least you get a weapon in the pass game and red zone with chase. with coats you get nothing but bad play across the board. hell i would rather have tronzo than coats. some times marv is just a hard headed jackass.

I almost think that Coates must have compromising evidence on Marvin, like pictures of him with Katie or something. I don't even think the guy would make the Tuskers for Chrissakes.

I liked how they actually threw to the guy in the first quarter. Really, we don't know by now that's a bad idea?

It's the least of our worries by this point, but still.

mankins? y'all tripping... mike brown will never, ever sign a guard to a deal worth 40 million.

schmitt is an entirely different matter, and i support his signing wholeheartedly.

Yes, and more on this point they tried running Benson left, over Livings and Whit, and he generally got stuffed.

Last year, they ran Benson more often to the right.

Livings also struggled in pass protection and it looked like Cook had to help him more often than naught.

Sitting here watching the Packer, seeing Clay Matthews terrorizing Vick, makes me think about how anonymous Rivers has been. He is Mr. Nowhere Man.

Getting even further off topic, recalling Dhani in this game playing at game speed, he does not have it. He cannot be the MLB. I refuse to believe he is the only guy who knows the D. He is a massive liability. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that I could beat him in a footrace.

Back on topic, getting a FB is fine, though having a FB would not have been the difference today. The difference today was made back in July with this coaching staff. Today's failure rests solely on the staff.

The defense cordinator uses Clay Matthews to what he is good at pass rushing. He pass rushes on almost every play. Zim needs to do that use MJ and blitz him let him do exotic blitzes, or use Brandon Johnson to do so. It seems like he has MJ and Rey trying to do to much. Let Rey fly around to the ball, while MJ blitzin the QB, Zim needs to figure something out!

They payed Whitworth alot of money to play guard before moving to tackle and it's pretty obvious they could use a elite guard so maybe old man brown will decide it's time to pay a guard.

If he's still not willing have him watch the saints game and see what probowl guards can add.

Last year, they ran Benson more often to the right.

They were much more successful to left last year and huge part was Mathis able spring blocks down field...there was a dropoff in play when Mathis was injured.

I don't care what anyone had to say in a positive light about Coats.

As a player, he's a bag of sh*t.

I've never hated a non douche bag player as much as I hate Coats...Sure he's a nice guy has kids but he's still a terrible ass football player..

Cut Coats Activate Tronzo or Coffman...Start Rey @ MLB MJ @ SLB and put dhani on the bench.

Hartwig and Mankins would remove Livings and Cook (Who I don't hate but do acknowledge is sub-par right now) from imploding the foundation of this offense for the time being.

Man, this was a long off-season and what i saw today was about as drastic a let-down as I can recall in the past 7 or 8 years. Boy that was harsh.

Cut Livings tomorrow and give Mankins the moon. Un-capped and right before a possible lock-out.... Jesus, SoP, go for it!

$40 Mill? Word is he turned down Nick Mangold money...

So any thought of him becoming a Bengal goes out the window right there.

I'd like us to go out and sign "The Fridge" if he isn't dead already

When we play a defensive guy at FB we're a dumb franchise, but when Bellicheck does it in NE he's a genius hmm.

That guy, Klecko, was cut. And he lined up Vrabel as a TE. Which WAS genuis. Unfourtnaly we have Bratkowski as our OC.

That guy, Klecko was used in key situations and also caught TDS. What does him being cut have to do with it being a good move?
