ArmyBengal Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Can't see them spending that kind of coin, but I would have absolutely ZERO problem with Mankins in stripes. Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 because Mike Brown won't ever sign a Guard to a contract worth 40 million. He turned down Mangold money($55 Mill) so that number you proposed is not even close. But if they can get rid of Antwan Odom and Robert Geathers and a 2nd round pick for him, I am all for it! HoosierCat Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 He turned down Mangold money($55 Mill) so that number you proposed is not even close.source?According to what was being reported on espn before yesterday's game, the issue isn't money. Per the report (and I'm working from memory) Mankins and New England reached agreement on a deal, but it was conditioned on Mankins having to personally apologize to Kraft for comments he made questioning his integrity during the offseason. Mankins did. This supposedly happened on a Friday and they were still hashing out a few details and Mankins was coming back on Monday to sign the finished deal. When he got back Monday, they told him that he would now have to do a second, public apology, at which point Mankins said f**k this and walked out. Quote
kingwilly Posted September 13, 2010 Author Report Posted September 13, 2010 Go get the guy. While they are at it, cut Geathers and go get Haynesworth. Quote

A bit of an attitude is good, wish some or our o-linemen had showed some yesterday.Probably dreaming, but yeah, sign him. Quote

FWIW, I'm not offended. That said, I'm not sure how intersted I'd be in trading for Mankins. Because just like the situation in San Diego involving another top offensive lineman who refuses to report, the GM directly involved doesn't seem interested in trading the disgruntled player unless the trade itself is overwhelmingly in his teams favor. So both GM's are holding strong to hardline positions in the belief that the player has no realistic options available and can be broken eventually. For the record, I don't disagree. Quote
