ArmyBengal
No injury settlement either ?? It just seems odd.If Bryant turns up on another roster and produces, not putting him on IR for the season will seem very stupid. That being said, I'm glad this is finally over so we can move on without wondering. Maybe they felt the $7 million signing bonus was enough. I got a feeling it might be fairly serious and I kinda doubt he's going to be picked up anytime soon. How much interest did he get in FA back in March to begin with? And yes it is time to move on. I think the TO signing might be one of the top moves of the Marvin regime when it's over. But I really wonder if it was TO's age or reputation that scared the Bengals away. In hindsight it would have been good to have him here for all of the OTA's this spring instead of Bryant. ArmyBengal
Well, it could be worse, we could still have L. Coles. He was released by the Jets today...

Kazkal
Welll maybe we should just stay out free agency and just extend our own...because FA as of late for usOur Big Named FASam AdamsB.UtechtL.ColesA.ByrantTHe only Free Agents that seem to work our are Bargain Deals...(Tank,Cedric,CRocker,Adam Jones & WIlliams)
Stripes
Ballsy of the Bengals to cut ties with their own big catch. The signing was completely underwhelming from the start. If they're going to make a dumb mistake, it's good that they're willing to admit to it so plainly and move foward.
Kazkal
I really hope he doesn't sign with Ravens or Steelers I'd hate for him to get healthy and make us regret cutting him now.PS,Looks like Cosby & Simpson will both make the team. membengal
Good for the Bengals and Mike Brown. No need to compound the mistake. Cut bait, move on. Too often in the past the Bengals have carried mistakes to try and recoup money ill-spent.I like it. Nice and cutthroat. As for the wasted money? Well, it was an uncapped year, and, hey, it's not MY coin...

Adams was old and fat, but that he was as bad as he was still came as a surprise. Utecht was never going to be great, but his injury made any production impossible. Coles looked like a decent move, and I'm still surprised it resulted in so little.Bryant was a dumb signing though. Even were he healthy he'd have been pretty underwhelming. whizzo
so, who makes the roster now? cosby or simpson? simpson offers more, i think - cosby isn't needed on ST anymore with the Adam Jones resurgence. Briscoe to PS, obviously.
ArmyBengal
Thinking this a little more makes me wonder about the future of the position.Chad and TO could be gone after this season and there is no one that can produce the way they do on the roster. It really makes me wonder if we don't actually see Chad and TO stay longer than the single season and dare I say it:Target a WR early in next years draft. (Apologies to Hair ahead of time)I'm not saying they should or even worrying about it, just spitballing.I'd rather help on the interior of the o-line if I'm choosing. (Apologies to Hair ahead of time)Even if only Owens ends up gone between the two, I'll still be a supporter of the notion of pursuing a receiver in the first couple of rounds. If both end up leaving, it'll be more an emergency than just a "need". I like Shipley and Caldwell, but neither of them will ever be a starter outside. The team will pick up the option year on his contract. He will be our only decent WR, and I blieve that "option" is only around 6-7 mill. Not a lot for a starting WR these days....hell, Bryant pocketed more than that without even playing in a game.

ArmyBengal
Like I said, I'm just spitballing with those thoughts, but the release of Bryant, who was suppose to be here for 4 years, makes the future of the position more of a question going forward. I don't think we needed him to do that much this season having T.O around, but would have liked to see a healthy Bryant next season, and for 2 years after that.I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't catch on with another team anytime soon, and the Bengals actually end up re-signing him to a smaller 1 or 2 year deal either late in the season (if an injury occurs) or next offseason. Those types of things have happened before.
