Observations/Thoughts Following Pre-season Game 2

I really would love to see the Bengals drop the 3rd QB in order to carry another WR.

My question is, was the 3rd QB inactive on game day ?? If so, wouldn't dropping one to carry another WR equal having 2 WR's inactive on game day ??

I would be ok with that if it keeps some of the young talent with this team and prepare for what happens at the position next season.

Matt jones wasnt utilized,.. He should be used for slants,.. Using his body,.. Gotta give the recievers a chance, and he beat the guy deep but osuckavin cant throw the damn ball,.. Palmer looked better and 10 times more mobile than than jt. He should beat him out of a job. 2nd team oline looked a little better. Not great but you know,.. Mathis is the only vet,.. Collins just gets worse every year,.. Quan did look great on that reurn. But i think teamwise, shipley and pacman on reurns would be a better choice... Hebert and miles hit the Shiz outta tebow,.. Liked that, ps tebow didnt look half bad...

I'm cool with 7 WR's if we go light at QB and IMO JTO should be the cast away...Well Jordan makes mistakes atleast he has all the same tools Carson has.(Though I think he's faster! ^-^)

Same He impacted alot of Ced's big runs and he's also the most athletic for when it comes to pulling...Paul The Mad Genius Alexander needs to get over his love fest with undrafted players and put Mathis in...

Ya Can't see 6 WR's on gameday I love me some cosby but it's going to be one hell of a battle for him to stick...Because if you go with Simpson & Briscoe as 6/7 no big deal that their inactive their meant to be the future...Cosby on the other hand earns his keep special teams so he has to make them okay with having Caldwell being one of the inactive which is possible with the emergence of Shipley...

PS,Though Byrant very well could be a inactive until he's fully healthy.

I can understand why you say that,.. He very well not make this team, I don't really know why he isnt as good as he was,.. He should have kept training immensely while outta the league,.. Definitely curious. I don't think he got any snaps with the 1's, did he? I didn't see him in there if he did. I don't think he gets cut, but I could see a situation where he doesn't dress. His problem is that, while he's definitely a promising receiver, his best attributes are pretty well replicated by Gresham and Shipley, and I don't know what he brings that those guys don't.

I am assuming Bryant to IR or cut at this point. Man am I glad they signed Owens, that's the proactive Bengals that many have spent years begging for. Those WDR types should be happy (but I am sure will find something to bitch about anyway).

As for the roster, seems to me that its going to be:

Johnson

Owens

Shipley

Simpson

Caldwell

Cosby

Much more cut and dried than it was looking a few weeks ago. Bryant to IR/cut. Matt Jones gone, Briscoe to practice squad, Purify claimed elsewhere.

That's my guess at this point.

I just don't see them placing him on the IR and no way do they cut him.

I could see the DB's but with Adam Jones there he can play BOTH special teams and be the nickle back.

DB's could be a possibility, though.

Cosby is the same. WR and returner. Not much of a WR but a heck of a returner. Can't cut him.

DB's I think were okay with 10(5/5),I also think they go 3RB with leonard worst case we only activate two for the first game.

So my Guess I'd say if we went with 2 QB's extra spot would be used on

WR-Only if They don't IR Byrant and feel he could come back this season

Dline-We are Deep but with injurys and the fact they extended Rucker past a 1 year deal..

Linebacker-Marvin Loves his Backers and they play a large portion of special teams...we have 5 Locks and I could see us going 7 (MJ,Maualuga,jones,johnson,rivers with Jeanty,Muckelroy & Hodge fighting for 2 spots

Oline-So they can Keep a young linemen around though I doubt any of our backups would be picked off the practice squad so would be the worst way to use the spot IMO.

Again, maybe someone who knows better can answer my comments about them only carrying 2 QB's and the if the extra spot would still be an inactive one, seeing as how the 3rd QB was always inactive. If that would be the case, it would only be a positive in order to keep some of the younger guys, but not see them play much minus injury.

At practice Wednesday afternoon, Broncos trainer Steve “Greek” Antonopulos came up to Tim Tebow and started consulting with the rookie quarterback.

After their talk, Tebow seemed to be holding his left ribs or left abdomen and jogged off to the locker room. He has yet to return. Tebow took several hits in the preseason game Sunday at Cincinnati. He was also involved in a violent collision at the goal line while diving for a touchdown on the game’s final play.

Tebow has has been wearing a flak-jacket padding device around his ribs this week. He didn’t participate in post-practice conditioning sprints Tuesday. This is significant as he has won every post-practice conditioning sprint among offensive players in training camp (Air Force’s Ben Garland) wins every defensive sprint).

That is exactly the reason why Tebow's game won't fly in the NFL. His body will not be able to take the hits. This is a sign of things to come. For his sake I hope he heeds this warning. The hits get much harder once the bell rings next month
