The schedule is a lot tougher this season, but on paper this Bengal team is one of the best in 20 years. The one man that needs to show up and bring his A game is Palmer. He's got tons of weapons this year and there won't be any excuses! Chad and TO, who's going to be doubled covered this year? Then we have Bryant, Shiply, Grsham and Kelly! Good Lord! Benson is back and won't miss any games! The only team that can stop this squad is the Bengals themselves!

I think our Def will be a lot stronger as well. We're getting Odom back which should help drastically! Ray Ray will have a year under his belt! Our DB's are great!!

Not sure about ST though. Is our kicking game going to improve or not?

But the bottom line is, what are other def going to focus on? Who are they going to double cover?

One last after thought, I had to laugh when the Jets signed Coles. That guy sucked for us! Everybody kept saying give him time he'll come around. NOT!

It ought to. Neither Windt nor Harris is likely to struggle nearly as much as St. Louis did last season prior to being jettisoned, even if neither of them does the job particularly well. St. Louis may well have had the worst longsnapping half-season in Bengals history. Graham's accuracy seemed to be deteriorating too, though it may have just been a confidence issue. We shouldn't lose much, if anything, with Nugent or Rayner.

As to the title of the thread, if they run a 3 WR set with Chad, TO, and lets say Shipley, the answer is nobody. They won't bother with Shipley and if you double either Chad or TO, there will be someone just waiting for Carson to deliver the ball. Heck, throw Gresham or Coffman in the scenario and I still don't think it changes. The matchup nightmares for opposing defenses will be endless.

In regards to the kicking game, I read that neither was doing better than the other for the most part, but I still say Nugent is going to win the starting job. Is that going to equal an improvement in the kicking game from last year ?? Maybe, maybe not, but I'm glad they were willing to take the chance at trying to improve it. It was just time.

No one should be getting double teamed. And if they are it will be up to Palmer to find the wide open guy. As long as the o-line can give Palmer a couple seconds or if Palmer can step up into the right place to give himself that extra second no DB will be able to hold their coverage and if they do Benson, Scott, Gresham, Coffman should easily have an open middle of the field.

Offense now is on shoulders of Oline, Palmer and Brat IMO.

But if Palmer has zero time then we could have Moss, Andre Johnson, and Brandon Marshall and it wouldn't matter.

I heard that Smith is hurt again this year. Not sure what it is or how long he'll be out. Hope he isn't a bust!!

Hes too fat thats his problem, i hope hes not a bust either, but by the looks of it his work ethic really sucks! This team needs him, but not if he is going to be lazy and not try his hardest.

Who gets double covered? Good question. I think initially it'll be Chad, but let Terrell start torching the other teams defensive backfield, (which unless Carson has a stroke I assure you it will happen) and the extra coverage will then switch over to Owens only to leave Ocho open to resume where T.O. left off.

If any of you knuckleheads are playing fantasy football this year, I don't see how you could not have one of our aforementioned Bengals players on it. :bengal:

When facing a couple top 15 receivers like Chad and TO safeties will have to shade over to those guys. One safety will be shaded towards Chad and the other over towards TO, it's impossible for them not to, they're both legit number one wideouts so having two of them is an issue for any defense. So on any pass play, teams will have to have personnel that can handle guys like Bryant, Shipley and Gresham without any help other than from LB's getting good drops into their zones to try and make the passing lanes as small as possible. Even though Gresham and Shipley are rookies, I don't anticipate too many teams being able to do it consistently.

Watch out for Gresham making a strong run at ROY cuz the middle of the field and underneath crossing routes will be wide open and Gresham's size and skill set translate to him being a huge match up issue. DB's are too small to handle him and linebackers will match up better size wise but he'll still have an advantage there at 6-6 and will usually be faster than a LB.

I expect Marvin's philosophy to be to run the ball a lot and hit teams with big plays to TO and Ocho after battering them enough to open up big plays down the field with play action. I expect Gresham to gash defenses over the middle on first and second down pass plays due to the respect safeties will have to pay TO and Ocho on the outside and when any safeties start paying more attention to Gresh....up top we go to Chad or TO.

The Bengals are going to be very tough to stop this year. It's gonna be sick.

Well if that does happen, it's only good news for Benson or any other RB on the Bengals. Stacking the box goes completely out the window.

Absolutely. In the box safeties will not exist vs. this Bengals offense...it's just not possible.

I like the way you think. :bengal:

With all the weapons and depth we have this year, we better move through the playoffs. The only way we end up with a losing season is if Palmer doesn't come to play or if we obtain a ton of injuries. Palmer has no excuses this year! He's healthy and has the ammo!
