jjakq27
per Lance's blogThe Bengals today signed rookie WR Shay Hodge to the practice squad. Hodge (6-2-218; Mississippi) entered the NFL on May 17 as a college free agent with Washington. He saw preseason action for the Redskins (no receptions) and was waived on Sept. 4. TJJackson
On another board I frequent, the posting of links or images is prohibited until the user has posted 50 times (or so) -and- been a member at least 2 months. They may be a bit more complexity to it, buts thats the basicsSpam is virtually nonexistent on that site as a result......few if any spammers have the kind of patience necessary to meet both conditions
ArmyBengal
On a side note, I have purchased knock off jerseys from China and I love them. It's not my fault some 7 year old that knows how to work a sewing machine only gets paid in banana peels. For those of you that know the site, they have T.O.'s jersey as well as Shipley's now.On topic, does anyone have something worthwhile that can't be read on the net about the new PS WR ??Anyone watch him play ?? HairOnFire
Hartwig would also be a SMART move, as he can play G as well, adding depth across the O-line. The tinkering never stops. Multiple sources have confirmed he'll be visiting the Bengals on Tuesday. And Seahawk castaway FB Owen Schmidt is also said to be visiting next week. My level of interest in both players is pretty modest. Hartwig clearly isn't starter quality anymore and Brian Leonard has already returned to full practice. Wraith
Brian Leonard is not a Fullback, at least not in the traditional sense, he is not going to go into the line of scrimmage and blow people out of the way, Owen Schmidt can do that, I am game. Hartwig, meh.

I heard mention of that last week but didn't hear the whole comment. Basically that the opening day roster might have different players that the week two roster. Teams often release fringe players or overpaid backups prior to week one to avoid paying guarantees related to roster bonuses. For example, the Steelers are said to be interested in resigning Hartwig but keeping him on the roster essentially locked in his current salary and triggered guaranteed bonuses. volcom69
I think Hartwig could start over Livings. Hartwig wasnt relesed because he sucks he was relesed because of salary. Sure Pouncy beat him out, but he still could have started on Pitts o-line, he was still one of there better o-linemen. To me it would be stupid not to bring him in to back up G/C postion. With Cook hurting his ankle in the preseason, i wouldnt want a 7th round rookie to start, or even Mathis who was just learning the center postion. Sea Ray
I think if you sign a veteran after week one, you don't have to guarantee his salary for the year
whizzo
I think if you sign a veteran after week one, you don't have to guarantee his salary for the yearyup. veterans on a week one roster immediately have their salary guaranteed for that year. so teams cut them before week one and re-sign them right after the game.
