HoosierCat
Interesting note from Sando over at espn.com. Bengals are the 17th oldest team at the moment. Ravens, Browns and Steelers are, respectively, the fifth-, third- and second-oldest squads./>http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/24828/age-rankings-for-every-nfl-team
Stripes
There isn't any correlation to be noted from that regarding the quality of teams that are old or young (not that you were saying there is). Still, being right in the middle sounds pretty optimal by my logic.
DC_Bengals_Fan
There isn't any correlation to be noted from that regarding the quality of teams that are old or young (not that you were saying there is). Still, being right in the middle sounds pretty optimal by my logic.Except that old teams tend to be fragile. It's hard to keep an old team running, sort of like the 15-year-old Corolla I had for my first car. Also, I might think that there's greater hope for an old team to be a little worse than expected due to age catching up to some of the players. A weak causal effect to be sure, with any number of counterexamples. Now, that's for Pitt and Balt, which are expected to be good - you're trading risk of injury and slowdown for veteran experience. As for the Browns - bad, old, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.
BengalPimp
Obviously we all know we have a ton of young talent, but the good thing is, our older players actually perform. Dahni Jones (32) Chad (32) Reggie Kelly (33) Bobbie Williams (33) are al still good players, but we also have very capable young players backing them up. Especially Kelly (Gresham) and Jones (Maualuga)
redsbengalsbucks
To be honest, I thought two seasons ago the Balt. defense was about ready to give up the ghost. So far they have been able to keep it together for the most part, but some of the main players on that D are getting very old for the NFL. This maybe the season that finally sees old man time catch the Balt. D.You can add the Steelers Whines Hard right into that also, he has been extending his playing days for a couple of seasons without much of a drop-off, is this the year he shows his age? membengal
Wasn't it JUST last year that the Bengals were the second youngest team??
HairOnFire
Wasn't it JUST last year that the Bengals were the second youngest team?? I'm guessing two years ago....when they trailed only the Packers.
