With their 5th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select:

GENO ATKINS, DT, GEORGIA

I personally don't know a lot about the guy, but I am lurking on Walterfootball and the Ravens official draft board and everybody thought this was a huge steal. He made Iupati look like a p***y at the senior bowl.

Undersized but has a great initial burst. One of the more physically gifted DTs in the draft. Won't help with the run but could be nice in situational pass rush downs. Not a bad value for the 4th round. I like this pick.

in zimmer I trust,Should be interesting battle for roster spot at Dline because I didn;t think we would

DT with talk dunlap kicking inside..,If MJ doesnt move to SLB/DE role I could see us cutting 2 DE's if we count fanene as DE.

I don't think Dunlap will be moved inside to DT much if at all on passing downs, but they needed d-line depth, ecspecially with the injury problems Peko, Sims and Odom had.

Only real disappointment thus far is that it looks like they are not going to upgrade the interior o-line at all - mistake.

The weak point of the o-line was right tackle, and we already have a prospect to try to fix that position.

ya mainly need developmental guys at guard which maybe Luigs could backup LG...I just really don't like livings and thought he was overrated there was drop off in production when Mathis went down and Livings had to start.

Agree. I thought they'd go in that direction.

But I get the impression that the team is going in the direction of winning with defense instead of trying to outscore everyone. Look at what the Jets did last year. Was Sanchez really that good? No but 3-and-outs give your offense more opportunities.

120 -- Bengals -- DT Geno Atkins

He's an undersized DT who makes a lot of sense along the Bengals' front. He's a one-gap penetrator, also known as a 3-technique, who ran a 4.82 40-yard dash at 293 pounds.

Probably the best pick they've made since round 1.

And for the record, I'm officially off the safety bandwagon, as by this point all they can get is the same quality as they already have. And the same goes for the interior O-Line.

This is the kind of guys that Zimmer hinted that he want -- i.e. someone to push the pocket up the middle so that the DE can be more effective.

I like the pick.

No complaints here. Camp DT welcomes our newest mid-round project.

I didn't wanna see DT early...Was thinking 5th + area but I really like the sound of this guy for the role He will serve...Tiny Terror he's strong and ran 4.75 as a big man I know i've been knocking 40 times...but for guy who is 6'1 295 lbs to run a 4.75 is pretty damn impressive...

I liked what Alualu could bring with his strength and quickness at DT. Atkins is the same type of player. Fast and strong as hell.

He just looks like a solid player.
