ArmyBengal Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 With their 5th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select:GENO ATKINS, DT, GEORGIA Quote
redsbengalsbucks Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 What are they doing, are there no S prospects left, that can help shore up the lack of depth there? Quote

He made Iupati look like a p***y at the senior bowl. Quote
coupdayta Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Undersized but has a great initial burst. One of the more physically gifted DTs in the draft. Won't help with the run but could be nice in situational pass rush downs. Not a bad value for the 4th round. I like this pick. Quote
Kazkal Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 in zimmer I trust,Should be interesting battle for roster spot at Dline because I didn;t think we would DT with talk dunlap kicking inside..,If MJ doesnt move to SLB/DE role I could see us cutting 2 DE's if we count fanene as DE. Quote
alleycat Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 The reason everyone at the Senior Bowl got down on Iupati was that he was getting his ass handed to him - by Geno Atkins... Quote
BlainThePain Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Can't argue against a pick that adds depth and a possible future starter in the trenches. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 I don't think Dunlap will be moved inside to DT much if at all on passing downs, but they needed d-line depth, ecspecially with the injury problems Peko, Sims and Odom had.Only real disappointment thus far is that it looks like they are not going to upgrade the interior o-line at all - mistake. ArmyBengal Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 Pre-pick thread is still open Quote

I thought they'd go in that direction. But I get the impression that the team is going in the direction of winning with defense instead of trying to outscore everyone. Look at what the Jets did last year. Was Sanchez really that good? No but 3-and-outs give your offense more opportunities. Quote
Kazkal Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 I like Geno pick though 2 new Dlinemen pretty much should light fire under some players asses otherwise there off the team in sept. Quote
Kazkal Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Quote Mike Mayock120 -- Bengals -- DT Geno AtkinsHe's an undersized DT who makes a lot of sense along the Bengals' front. He's a one-gap penetrator, also known as a 3-technique, who ran a 4.82 40-yard dash at 293 pounds. Quote
HairOnFire Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Probably the best pick they've made since round 1. And for the record, I'm officially off the safety bandwagon, as by this point all they can get is the same quality as they already have. And the same goes for the interior O-Line. Quote
BengalPappaw Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 This is the kind of guys that Zimmer hinted that he want -- i.e. someone to push the pocket up the middle so that the DE can be more effective.I like the pick. Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 No complaints here. Camp DT welcomes our newest mid-round project. Quote

cincyhokie Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 I liked what Alualu could bring with his strength and quickness at DT. Atkins is the same type of player. Fast and strong as hell.He just looks like a solid player./>http://www.nfl.com/draft/2010/profiles/geno-atkins?id=496762 Quote
