HoTbOy
I hope he is a primetime player Sunday if he gets the call, I think you have to run 4 WR sets to beat Pitt, and hopfully that will open up some running lanes for CBenson... DC_Bengals_Fan
Well, after seeing that Oklahoma drill on Hard Knocks, I'm willing to trust that Purify can block for the running game. I say give him a try while they let last year's 6th round pick, Jerome Simpson, learns to play WR.
HoTbOy
I just don't know if you bring a kid in from a D2 school and put him in against Pitt, at least MPurify played D1 and would maybe have a better speed for the game... He was in our camp last year and got cut. Formerly played with Louisville in college.

kingwilly
Ok, so it is being primed that Purify will get signed to the 53-man roster. Read here. So, this leaves us to consider the roster moves that will allow it to happen. They could IR someone. As the article states, Mathis and Rivers are not damaged long-term, but Roy Williams appeared in street clothes friday, responding when asked about his arm, "I don't want to talk about it".So, could they be angling to IR Roy? They did sign Freddie Brown to the PS, so they do have another WR to bring up, in case of another freak injury. Could Simpson be the odd man out and get cut? They could cut someone, a back-up ST guy, perhaps Skuta? They brought Fui back though Jeremi seems healthy.Given overall depth needs, I don't see many other options. thoughts? COB
You were on the money, Roy is IR'd. I'm really looking forward to watching Purify play some. Marvin was basically swinging from Maurice's sack as he described his physical, big boy, style of play. Pretty funny in regards to Simpson, Marvin basically said Maurice is bigger, stronger, does more things to help us, and fits into this team better. Leaves me wondering, how will Jerome Simpson ever get on the field?
kurgan74
Carson has a ton of faith in Purify and went to bat for him to be prommoted.I look for the Bengals to get Purify involved early and often. On a side not, I am sure UK fans loved seeing the reminder of the loss to Gardner-Webb 2 times on the ticker during the video. There are quite a few WR in the league doing well that are eyond the traditional size. Vincent Jackson, Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, etc. Henry was tall and fast but not big. When your nickname is "slim" you're not outmuscling anyone, per se.I hope he gets some looks and we can see what we've got.

TJJackson
I saw some VERY nice special teams plays from Mr Purify.....open field Kickoff coverage tackle inside the 20 on Cribbs? Out freaking standing
jjakq27
Yes he looks like a promising player. If he had broken off his route to the front of the endzone instead of drifting into the defender, he probably would have had a TD. But that is something to build on and his play is encouraging. Still got issues with him wearing No. 14 though.
Pidge
He tackles very well. It's a shame he's a bit late on in his career to switch to safety because it's doubtful he'll ever play many meaningful snaps at WR on this team in the short term. Outstanding STer though. He keeps this up and he'll be a pro-bowler next season.

Out freaking standingHe brought down Cribbs a couple times as I recall and they were sure tackles, unassisted. Considering Cribbs is one of the better return guys around I'd say that means Purify has some wheels on him. His special teams play alone was enough to warrant his promotion to the active roster. However I would like to see him catch a few balls from Carson too.
TJJackson
I would like to see him catch a few balls from Carson too.Me tooButyou dont expect your 5th string WR to get too many offensive snapsso when does the 5th string receiver get the majority of his snaps, and ergo when you want him to excel?:-)obviously he did not catch the throw in the endzone.....was he thrown to even once besides that one attempt?I think they need to give him a shot at YAC on short catches when he has a smaller weaker DB covering him, use his size and strength to pick up yardage

HAPPYJAQ
I'm telling you guys, he'll be the 2010 version of Ron Dugans or Kevin Walter, in their best Bengals days. I expect his role on offense to expand as the season goes along, especially with the inconsistencies of Coles and Caldwell. Don't be surprised to see this guy as the #2 or #3 at some point next season, as there is a reason that Carson likes this guy better than Simpson.
