What say you now, Ray Lewis?

From a game preview article in today's Enquirer.

The Ravens don't seem to be putting much stock in Cincinnati's 17-14 win in their first matchup this season, or in Cedric Benson's 120-yard rushing effort in that game. In an NFL Network interview, linebacker Ray Lewis said of Benson: "You give up two big runs to somebody just because you didn't keep your leverage ... do you give credit to him? Hey, we'll see this week. ... You have to come do it again."

Got news for ya Ray-dog. He did it again.

Great post. Ray let his alligator mouth over ride the Ravens hummingbird asses. Their defense had no answer for Palmer and Benson. :bengal:

Yeah, I wouldn't quite go that far. They held us scoreless for thirty minutes. I think it was more a case of their offense not having an answer to our defense. Not saying Benson and Palmer didn't do well. Defense won that game, however.

That kind of bravado may have worked in the past but the Bengals seemed like they weren't phased by it one bit. During the game I kept watching Benson's total creep closer to 100 and wondered if the team was aware of the comment. Needless to say I was pumped when he crossed the century mark.

As many have said here this week, including my good self, we're a better team than the Ravens. Let those other guys talk. This team makes its statements on the field.

Hell yeah. Our defense wore out their offense. They had nothin'.

This D is really something. It's not just because of talent (although we have plenty of it) as every team has talent. Credit to Zimmer here. Our scheme and adjustments are awesome. Very disciplined and so aggressive. The players not only buy into the system they understand the system and are intelligent enough to put what Zimmer is trying to do into practice on the field. Still plenty of room for improvement too.

We suffocated them today. 46 yds rushing. Nice to give the Ravens a taste of their own medicine for once this yr.

Well put. We haven't seen the best this defense has to offer.

Of course, we all wanted to know what Lewis had to say about the Bengals' 17-7 win Sunday, about Benson's 117-yard rushing day this time around, about how Cincinnati did the smacking on the field. And why it was that, after Benson became the first running back in 40 games to rush for 100 or more yards against Baltimore in Week 5, he was able to do it again.

Oh, and also about how the Ravens were swept by the Bengals this season (Cincinnati won 17-14 on Oct. 11 in Baltimore).

But Lewis was quiet after the game. Not a whisper.

Usually steady, reliable safety Ed Reed was unprofessional in the postgame locker room, repeatedly interrupting a teammate's interview. Other Ravens showed they are big and bad and gruff when things go according to plan but, like a lot of pseudo bullies, are bewildered and weak when things go poof.

"Pseudo bullies." Mmmmm. Schadenfreude. My favorite dish.

 Good stuff. The big bad bullies are just gonna huff and puff...that's one thing about the Gayvens, they never take the high road or doing anything with class. They lose to us and the Pats and what do they do?...Bitch about the refs and how they got jipped! We punched them in the mouth yesterday and they couldn't get off the mat...but no credit given by "Old" Ray Lewis after all the s**t he talked. Classless. And I'm not even gonna mention Ed Reed b/c that dude is sooo overrated its redikulus.

So I guess Ray ducked the reporters for the second straight game after losing to the Bengals. No wonder he was in such a hurry to get off the field at the end of the game after playing huggy-poo with Ocho.

Great leadership from a sure-fire, first ballot Hall-of-Famer? If I were a teammate I would be pissed. If you're going to stand there and try to bully and BS everybody during the week before, then you ought to be man enough to stand there and answer the questions after a loss. But then again that's his M.O.

No argument here.

I don't remember the defense scoring any points.... This was a team win. Both sides did their job.

Yep, he'll get in, probably at the first attempt. Can't stand him personally. Good player but a lousy individual with virtually no substance.

Hell must be freezing over.....I actually agree with something Agrizzle said. Is it 2012 already?

Was this a team win? Absolutely. Did not say it wasn't. BUT, if you only score 17 in ANY NFL game, much less against a team averaging 30+ points per game, and win said game, that's on the 'D'. Giz, you think there has to be defensive points for the D to get some love? How about the late-game drive where the Ravens were threatening and the D hooked three straight sacks? To me, that's as good as points scored.

Well, there's no doubt the defense is playing great right now... and they deserve all the credit they've been getting.

That said, it's a little easier to look dominant when the offense holds the ball for more than 40 minutes of the game. The Bengals defense was amazing because they wouldn't let the Ravens get in sync by forcing quick punts and turnovers. But the offense did their job with long extended drives keeping the defense fresh on the sidelines.

The offense may have only scored 17 points, but they did an amazing job of playing keep away making the job of the defense that much easier.

This is the big change this season. The Offense is allowing the D some time to rest and regroup. In the past it was either score really fast or three and outs, most of the game.

No question about it. The offense is doing a great job converting, chewing up the clock, avoiding stupid penalties. All the things that were major issues in times past. Nothing I've typed should be interpreted as criticism, because that is not the intent. My only original point was, look at the final game stats. Palmer had a good, not light up, day. Same for Benson, Coles, Fredo. All posted solid numbers, but none exploded. That's fine, I'd rather have a whole offense playing good than one guy playing great any day of the week. I just don't think we can say that Benson OR Palmer OR Fredo were unstoppable by the Ravens defense. The unit as a whole did its job and did it very well. The defense had a great day.

It is all good.

The last two games the offense has finally found it's feet. Not just in long drives that end in scores but they've really stopped committing so many penalties.

The complete oppostie from many of the first 5 games where it was 3&out after 3&out. Maybe that played a part in why the D gave up so many statistical yds yet not too many points.

I'd still like to see Chad and Carson hook up on a couple of bombs, ala 2005. They've only been able to do that once this year. Every other time he's missed. It seems like Palmer's lost a bit of his down field accuracy.
