What's missing?

I just had a great bengal psyche up talk with my brother (fellow 'zoner hollywood sage) and I pose the following to the board: what is this team lacking to keep us from having a ridiculous season (11+ wins)?

My only thought is the intangible -- poor execution (dropped passes, dumb penalties).

I feel great about our personnel, great about our coaching (when Brat decides to call a game it's actually a really solid game). Don't want to put on permanent rose colored glasses but I'd much rather have this team than the '05 team. No joke.

they lack:

1. CB depth - If JJoe or Leon get hurt, it could get ugly.

2. TE quality - Coates is a back-up, as evidenced by the frequency of drops, Coffman is not ready and Foschi is a big question mark.

3. consistent ST's play - gotta get the coverages nailed down. CANNOT have any more snap issues. and Graham needs to sharpen up.

Those are about the only things I see preventing this team from an 11-5/12-4 season. As it is, hitting 10-6 means winning one more than they lose from here out, which should be possible, though I think they will keep up with the storng play and flirt with 12-4.

All the penalties, particularly the dumb pre-snap ones (delays, false start, illegal formation), aren't helping, either. Given all the changes on the o-line and Palmer's lack of PT since '0, that is to be expected, I suppose, but we're headed into game six now and that sh*t needs to get cleaned up.

A dominating performance from Palmer. He's been brilliant as the 'come-back kid', but he needs to be able to blow the doors off someone and not always rely on that last drive-stay alive. Yes, a catching TE and cutting out the penalties and drops would help, but he needs to show he can dominate for us to make it through the season.

I agree with you greg.. But you have to remember who we have faced. We've played Denver, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore. Those are some pretty good defenses wouldn't you say.. Yes we also played Cleveland on the road and the offense was flat but I think we have yet to see what this offense is capable of. We still have a tough schedule but this was a HUGE test.

A pass catching TE ** cough, cough, Coffman**

Chase..... Chase..... No Chase...... Give me twenty, Chase.............. Chase..........

LMAO... that's funny dude lol. I still think you go with Coffman on those passing plays.
